I need a buffer/polisher, what to get?

I am in the market for a buffer just for waxing.
I have two fairly new cars 2014 Mustang GT and a 2013 Rogue.

I wash and wax regularly and I am currently hand waxing with:
Liquid Souveran Car Wax

I am looking at the Flex but I am not sure which model to get and what pads/extras to get. There seems to be too many options and "kits." Can someone help me out? I would like to stick with the wax I am using.

Below are the models I see, are there more? Is Flex the best way to go? Do I need a "backing plate"?
FLEX L3403 VRG Lightweight Rotary Polisher
Flex XC 3401 VRG Dual Action Orbital Polisher
FLEX XC 3401 VRG HD Orbital Polisher

I was thinking of getting this kit with a Gold, Red, and a Black or Blue pad???
Or this kit, because I need more wax anyways.

Skip the thousands I wasted and just get
Flex 3401
LC 5" Hybrid pads in Orange, White and Black
Flex 3401 4" backing plate
Menzerna 400,4000,4500
Menzerna all in one or HD Speed
That should get you started. I recommend 12 orange, 6 white and 6 black
I'm a fan of Souvergin Paste not the liquid. But use what your comfortable with.
 
Are you just going to be waxing with it? Or will you eventually be doing paint correction?
 
You don't need a rotary or a forced rotation to apply a wax, something with a long throw will be much better suited coupled to a larger pad to cover areas fast.

If you never plan to serious paint correction (just waxing or even an all in one) I would get a non-forced DA such as the the Griot's Garage DA. The Flex is overkill and will save money. If you have the money, then consider the Griot's BOSS.
 
the flex is overkill if you're only going to wax your cars. the GG6 is a great DA that packs plenty of torque/power and excellent warranty (top notch customer service too) and very versatile. it is capable of doing correction and other tasks as well. you cannot go wrong owning one!
 
This would be a very good choice. The lifetime warranty makes it an even better choice.
Do I need to worry about a polisher making swirls with just waxing? Is the Flex a "no way" and the GG6 "well if I use it correctly, no"?
So basically, if a Flex is safer, I don't mind spending the extra $$.

The GG6 would definitely be safer than the Flex.

In theory, because the Flex is a forced rotation machine, it could be more dangerous. But that would only be the case if you were doing paint correction, or using a cleaner-wax. With a finishing wax that has no abrasives, you would have to do something pretty stupid to do damage.

That said, the Flex is intended to be a professional tool, not a wax spreader. On the other hand, I dare say many people who buy a high performance car never use it as intended either. So if buying and using "the Mercedes Benz of the polisher world" to apply wax is what will make you happy, go for it. :xyxthumbs:
