{ Pet Peeve's } Detailing

I hate it when your rinsing a car down only to discover one of the windows is crack down an inch

:autowash:

Taking advantage of "nice" weather for a change and washing/stripping an old LSP only to have the rain start as soon as your done washing. Now I look at the forecast and none of the coming days are even remotely nice...

The hose! I hate it when it gets stuck under the tires when I'm moving to the other side of the car. Such a small thing, but it pisses me off.

These will ease your aggravation.

The Hose Blocker

I used to get so p.o.'d with the hose getting stuck I'd give it a giant yank n flip... until the hose flew and broke I something I wished I wouldn't have.

TL

The hose blocker really works. I was skeptical at first, but it works for both hoses and cords.

Customers missing appointments on a mobile detail. People asking questions or admiring the detail as I'm trying to get to the finished product(too much small talk). Generator or pressure washer running out of fuel. Just to name a few.

I like it when Flash busts out a 6 year old thread! Good times! Happy New Year Ya'll!

One of my pet peeves is detailing anything made by Land Rover. There are 15 cupholders a row of hidden seats and little crevices that none of the vacuum attachments or brushes I have can reach.

Another thing that irritates me is working with someone who tells you they have detailing experience and they don't think to open up the third row seat, the 15 cupholders or try and clean the crevices.

I have a few more; but, I'm gonna let those go for awhile.

The gardeners leaf blower! Why is it everytime I finish a detail the gardener shows up with his leaf blower? Ca. car duster works well to clean up the mess they make though.

Customers who dont take the crap out of their car! Sure I expect a few things but when the whole vehicle is packed with stuff it really annoys me .

Customers who tell you their car is really clean and it turns out to be a filthy nighmare!

Tar splattered cars and cars that have run over a gallon of paint.

Kid crap and goo!:D

Filthy dog hair vehicles that smell really bad!

Ok, maybe it's just me, but I hate the way people look at me when I'm cleaning up my car! I only detail my own cars and live in an apartment complex so it's usually in a parking garage. People sure give me the weirdest looks.

Hose/power cords getting caught around the tires

:iagree: with all of those :dblthumb2:

The leaf blower thing will definitely get me going. Happened about every saturday at my old house.

Right now my detailing seat is a folding chair. No wheels that's pretty annoying

1. Rain just after completing a 12 hour detail
2. Forecast of rain that makes you decide NOT to detail; only to have it stay sunny and clear all day.
3. Dust magically appearing out of nowhere and covering your car 10 minutes after you finish.
4. Cords and cables getting in the way and getting stuck on every conceivable object within 30 feet, hoses getting crimped and stopping the flow of water, making it necessary for you to walk 50 feet to get to the point where the crimp is located.
5. The massive collection and clean up of towels, pads, brushes, and other equipment used, adding perhaps an hour to the time spent on your car.
6. People looking at you like you're some kind of nut (I am) when you're in front of your house with with your leaf blower, buffers, pads, microfiber towels, and bottles of polish, sealants, and wax lined up on the sidewalk around you taking 12 hours (from sunup to after sundown) doing something that they will take an hour to do. (They just wash and dry their cars) BUT I WOULD NOT HAVE IT ANY OTHER WAY!

This :iagree:

and when the maintenance people "clean" and my car ends up covered in dust & leaves even though it is in an underground garage.

When a customer says, "it's not that dirty." You can count on it being awful.

Lol I agree with the Land Rovers. While I am better at cleaning them years later my first ever full detail was a Land Rover and OMG there were so many nooks and hidden compartments I thought I had the middle console cleaned but no wait, there is a small mini fridge under that

+1

Sometimes I have to ask myself if they are blind. or if they just live in such filth that their car seems decent...

Sunny & dry day, driving behind an SUV or Truck and all of a sudden a big spray of water all over the hood and windscreen, from water on the road that I can never figure out where it came from ...

Dropping The Clay Bar
Dropping the Microfiber
Weird Looks of Neighbours when I use my Pressure washer and/or when I'm detailing the car
Discovering RIDS that I have no idea where they came from
Compound dusting
Wax stains on black trim

Dropping clay puts me in rage mode. I dropped a clay magic bar and my blood insta-boiled and I baseball pitched it as hard as I could at the side of the trash can.

Same with applicators and towels.

Another thing that aggrivates me are people to touch my cars paint or attempt to set something on the roof or trunk. Or some one who is like, "Whats that on your roof?" and then proceeds to wipe their hand on it to get rid of the dust. OMG! Everytime it scratches.
