brinkmann dual led/halogen rechargeable spotlight - repairable

I'd say either the battery pack or the charger is toast. Both can be replaced.

Looks like the brinkman boys made their money and moved to the Caribbean
Why don't you look at scangrip

I had the old halogen one, first of all it's not really made to be taken apart, and I remember breaking part of it doing that. I could have gotten it back together, but I couldn't source a battery that between cost and shipping made it worth to repair.

Replaced the battery on my dual led light. Found replacement battery at Battery+.

How much did that cost with the shipping? With my halogen one, I think it was $20 or $22 to get the battery, for a light that only cost $30 when I bought it and never liked it that much.

They have several stores in my area so no shipping cost. Battery was around $16-$20 if I remember correctly.

Yeah, but I can get a $12, 190 lumen LED flashlight that's plastic with a rubber nose, and if the batteries stop working, I just unscrew the bottom and put new ones in.

A Scangrip is worth the admission, but something like a Coast HX5 pocket light isn't too shabby to have around for quick inspection either.

Same here. Brinkmann Dual LED - purchased replacement battery at Interstate Batteries for $12 and it works perfect again.

I think the battery is different for the LED one vs. the older halogen one...I don't think any of us with the halogen ever replaced the battery.

I have a detailed write up on replacing the batter on the DI Ask-A-Pro Blog... mine had the same issue and it would not charge, took 10 minutes to fix it :)

Thanks for that--including the tip about going in through the front to release the clips that you can break if you don't realize they are there, not that I know anything about that  (I vaguely remember something being glued, also)...perhaps my mistake was trying to find the battery online vs. in person, but I just couldn't justify the cost for a light I never found that useful in the first place (I know people swear by these).

I will have to think that one over. I could buy a LED flashlight or could just replace the battery in the Brinkmann if I can take it apart without breaking it.
Something to think about. I realize I do have a Duracell 700, will have to see how it does on the Porsche when the wife gets home.

FLEX Swirl Finder Light

Rupes Swirl Finder Pen Light

That Duracell 700 you have has rubber ends which IMO is what you want in case you drop it, that's kind of why I like plastic flashlights because they are lighter and softer than the aluminum ones...and when they get road rash they just get a little scraped up instead of the anodize coming off.

Thanks for the write up Zach!

The battery on my Brinkmann wasn't holding a charge for very long.

I took the old battery out after looking at your write up and went down to the local Battery Plus and got a new one.

Just installed it and working like new again. I really like that light as a swirl finder.

Took mine apart. No problem in doing so and called Batteries+Bulbs store near me and gave them the # off my batter and they said in stock 20 bucks. Replace battery been work fine ever since.

That's what I did watched your write and fixed mine.

Paid $8.99 + tax for the new battery at a local Battery Plus Bulbs.

Edit: the new battery I got was Duracell brand but same kind and same size.
