What did you do today non-detailing related?

Replace sagging headliner. Porsche Service Manual sez to remove rear quarter glass for easy removal of headliner…eh, following directions is for girls (and I saw guy on YouTube do it without glass removal!)

Worked out in the end but kinda a puzzle to get old one outta the car. No broken or lost trim clips/screws; will be easier next time when Porsche glue/foam fails again. Hopefully I’ll be too old to care by then.

The boss paid for our son, grandson, and our sons best friend to go out on a halibut and rock fish charter here in Seward Alaska where we are having a short vacay

I just picked up 2 big totes of vacuum packed filets and took them to the big blast freezer here at the rec camp

Did I mention I hate fish?

I replaced the lenses in my Ray-Bans, I dropped them a couple of months ago and put a mark on one side, not in my direct field of vision, but close enough that it's annoying sometimes. I got a discount code from Sunglass Fix, 20% off, so I bought their top of the line lens. Polarised, super hard coating, anti-reflective coating inside, and photo chromatic. All delivered for under $64. Much cheaper than buying new ones for over $300. Picture is with the new lenses in.

went to the grand opening (opened yesterday) of a new Daiso store in my area. bought a few things here and there. packed with people and it was really hot inside (doors was opening/closing consistently). having triple digit weather today and for the next seven days doesn't help either...

When I worked in Sydney the shopping centre down the road from us expanded and one of the new shops was a Daiso, I remember looking in thinking there was so much stuff that looked interesting, but I was pretty sure I didn't really need any of it, but it was packed so I didn't go in. I only ever went there on my lunch break, so I never had enough time to explore it.

A couple of months ago, one our supplier reps left a display stand with the intention of showcasing in-season plants. The rep has then been supplying advanced potted specimens to give customers an idea of what they can expect each plant can do. This is all well and good, but my creative brain spotted the potential expand on the idea...................

This plant stand was made by a men's shed, presumably from reclaimed timber. Well, we have plenty of that on hand, with a stack of un-used pallets taking up space in the yard. Pulling them apart was going to be the challenge, so I bought a lever bar from eBay..................

Before starting the project, I had measured up and drew out a layout plan mimicking the original, I then knew what amount of timber I was going to need.

It took me a bit to figure out the best way to use the lever bar without ruining the timber, but the tool made short work of stripping the pallets down. Following this, I removed all the nails and docked everything to length. Then the fun part of putting it together...............









Including the re-used timber, I also used up an assortment of odd-bod screws, so excluding the pry bar and my labour, I made something from nothing.

I plan to make more of these as time allows, which will be used around the nursery as needed. I was hoping to have a few of these made prior to the bare root roses arriving, they would display well in these.
 
Trying my hardest to keep up the daily 8km walks albeit 10°c to 12°c daytime temperature, BUT dry weather this time of the year is rare so i will take what i can get.

Nice job, and that is a cool tool, when we had to dispose of pallets we cut them up with a circular saw, originally a corded one till someone cut through the cord, then they bought us a cordless Ryobi, which struggled with some of the heavier pallets.

I made Buster's favourite bed out of a pallet, it's about 6 years old now, and this is the third cover I've put on it.

Same here, we didn't walk last night, the dogs just weren't interested, we got wet on this morning's walk, and just beat the rain tonight.

I was using a Stihl battery chainsaw to cut up pallets last year, made short work of it.
 
Had to walk over to the pharmacy/chemist today. I normally exit my building down at the dock level as it gives me direct access to the lakefront (east) or the Loop (west); walking west I spotted this Amazon van wedged in to the exit lane. There was a lady in a car trying to exit behind him but not sure how to proceed so I ran up the entrance lane to monitor/stop incoming traffic and waved her out. About an hour or so later, when I took this picture, it was still there with the driver working on it still all by himself. As Bob Uecker would say, "Missed it by *that* much!" :laughing:

First, who calls the pharmacist "the chemist" anymore? The last person I know who did that was my grandmother, and she was born in 1899. Unless you're from one of those UK places...

Second, isn't there a yellow bar on the entrance side, also? Or is that one just *that* much higher? How did she get it out? Did she figure out to let air out of the tires?

Ah, I see your problem, a Bogan won't know what a bokken is, he'll be carrying a cricket bat, and he will hit you with it, while shouting various swear words at you, most of them repeated several times.

Also, we still call it a chemist here, even though it says pharmacy on a lot of them now.
