Black Car. Sweet. Like Mike says, "Black isn't a color. It's a full time job." Stay away from the drive thru car washes. Use the two bucket method and take care of those expensive rims too. Welcome to AGO. (P.S. Watch the Mike Phillips videos on You Tube.)

I am using the two bucket method with grit guards. I am current using CG citrus wash. Dry me a river drying towels and meguiar towels for the wax @ Jerry0

I will start reading up on all info this evening.

Thanks for all the responses.

You having thin, soft black paint, I would wax at least once a month.

I agree with this BIG TIME!

I would like to add that some type of decon should be done twice a year as well. If your going to wax once a month and want something super easy to use, look no further than DG. Maybe mix in #501/105/111 in the regim, add #601 if you wanna layer. That said, if you only wanted to pick one and your doing it once a month, I'd go with #105 because its NOT a pure sealant, has some polish in it so you get a little of that in the mix but then again #111 looks outstanding. Here's what I would do though, #501/601 to start and then follow with #111 straight. If you did this once a month the car would OUTSTANDING ALWAYS!

Good Afternoon,

First time posting here.

I have just bought a new 2018 Honda Accord, i was wondering how often should I wax my car. I use meguiar liquid gold quick wax.

Oh yeah, congrats on the new ride, they are most impressive! Is it a 1.5L or 2.0L? 2 or 3 pedals? What color, pics?

Car looks outstanding!

Is that a black chrome grill or just the reflection? 197 hp is nothing to sneeze at I'm sure!

If you go the DG route myself and many others are here to help you out, they make great products

Car looks good....but I'd never buy black. I am too lazy and have OCD. It would drive me crazy.

Yeah, DG is in fact DuraGloss, based in North Carolina

Congrats on the new ride! Honda did an amazing job with the new Accords. DG has amazing products and Collinite 845 always helped me keep my Black cars nice and glossy.

Enjoy the new ride!

#845 is an easy to use product but doesn't last as long as #915 from Collinite which lasts a solid 4-6 months. No matter what anyone says either, when applied very thin it removes with ease and is geared towards black and dark colored cars

I had a different experience with collinite. I was able to compare collinite and mirror glaze (forgot what exact wax) and collinite had a mirror like gloss. Wherein mirror glaze had a “liquified” look into it. Car is what i like to call “soil brown” in color.

Anyway, i like optimum car wax because i can use it in all the exterior surfaces; helps keep me at ease knowing my trims and glass are protected. But when using waxes that stain trim, what do you guys do to protect it (not just dressing it to have a black sheen)?

I personally would toss out waxes that stains trim. Too many really nice products available that does not stain trim.

And I'm lazy---hate doing anything twice!

Me too! I’m lying at my back while i am typing this. Lol

So if you do not mind, what LSP do you use? And do you apply it on trims and glass?

I always went with Optimum Car Wax. Easy, fast and very very good stuff.

My favs are sealants---lasts good 4 - 6 months. And if sealants start to show it's age, hit with OCW.

I don't bother with waxes anymore. Too much work and time for something that'll last no longer than a month.

I'm sure others who know more than I re: waxes will probably educate you better than me.

Tom

Thanks Tom!

Right now, i am thinking of trying the ultima line; from waterless wash to elastrofoam to paint prep/polish to paint guard plus.

But i still have a gallon of ONRWW and an 90% full bottle of optimum spray wax. So ultima could wait i guess. :)
