What did you do today, in regards to detailing?

If I remember correctly when I got my DWS06’s it took a long time for them to bloom everything out....let me know if you need more Optimum tire coating I have plenty!

I did “briefly” think out trying it on my wife’s X3 but she has Goodyear run flats that have a trillion ribs (for no ones pleasure) on the sidewalls, I passed and threw some WETS on them.

Jay

My experience as well. Initial tire coating after a few weeks didn’t last long. Coating a few weeks later stayed for months.

So I'm going to do a small section of the tire and see what happens with the Optimum tire coating, stay tuned (file pic used)

The +'s are the new model of the DWS06's...new are DWS06+.
Total brain fart but in my defense it's spelled out PLUS...plus I just got them...plus

After abusing the ES for a while a wash was in order. More importantly a real tire cleaning of the new shoes so I can test Optimum tire coating one more time

I started out foaming the ES w/ Gyeon Restart...everything, including the tires and wheels. I let it dwell and then rinsed and this product is named properly...RESTART because it beads up immediately, thus RESTARTING your surface

Next I added 2 ounces of Auto-Fanatic snow foam in the CG's foam gun and foamed everything, including the tires and wheels, let dwell and rinsed

Next was Brake Buster for the tires and wheels, all 4 brushes to make them clean again. I left the tire scrub for last and scrubbed hard. Rinsed everything away. I then dried the ES and finally dried the tires and wheels.

To leave time for additional air drying I vac'd out the interior and then came back to the p/s front tire. I dispensed some Optimum tire coating to a new applicator and applied a single coat to the tire. This product has that bluish hue when applying. After the 1st coat it had a slight sheen, so I followed up with a 2nd coat, working it in real good which brought it up to a true sheen. I showed the coated tire and an uncoated tire for reference. This is all I'm doing right now, that one tire because if it acts up like it has for me previously I've only gotta strip ONE tire...stay "tuned"

Klasse - I don’t expect the coating to stay on due to them being so new but also because I don’t think you’ve cleaned them enough. You should be using a tire cleaner like Tuf Shine or 303 TR and making multiple passes until no more brown is produced. But as you know, even if you had done that, the new tires are still off gassing and releasing chemicals to the surface so this tire will get the double whammy and isn’t really a fair test of the coating.

Well the out gasing is true but the tires are a couple months old since being made and although not mounted I'm hoping that helps. As far as scrubbing I did 3 rounds and there was NO brown at all. I did multiple wipes yesterday as well. I guess we'll see how it goes as it's supposed to rain tonight and tomorrow, not sure when it will be washed next but I can wash that coated tire and report back to the group

The Qashqai's new tyres were put on about 6 weeks ago, I put some 303 Aerospace Protectant on that day, when I checked the next day, it looked like I hadn't put anything on them. The second and third coats have lasted longer. I can still smell the new rubber every time I go into the garage, so definitely still off-gassing.

I do know there are better products, but I don't like the super glossy look. And it seems every time my Mum drives it, she scrapes it against the gutter. One of the reasons I put wider tyres on it. View attachment 74055

Brake buster not strong enough. If still browning cleaning will be culprit. If it looks good your all good.

I used a drill brush to get my tires clean with 303 T&R. If doesn’t last long try a drill brush and if you don’t have a stronger wheel cleaner (tuff shine, 303 or Adams) try OPC maybe?

So, I'm back in lock down again.

This lockdown, the 6th in the sate I live in, came out of the blue and as I'm sure can understand, is extremely frustrating. I spent the day detailing in an attempt distract myself and calm down a bit.

At the last wash of this Ranger Wildtrack, I noted the lack of beading on the lower panels, indicating the Jescar Power Lock I applied in January had began to fail. About 7 months durability is not too bad considering this vehicle spends it life parked outdoors. So time for a new coating.

Time for an old favorite, Collinite 845.

I also decided to try out Poorboy's Natural look on the exterior trims, leather and tires.

All done and protected again.

Yeah, I'm in lock down now as well. Someone came up from Sydney to go to a beach party, now the Delta strain is spreading. Due for my second dose of AZ next week, so I'm not particularly bothered.

I gave the Qashqai a QD with Boss Gloss, it was used yesterday, ended up with greasy little finger prints all over the doors. And I had to put some 303 Aerospace Protectant on the tyres, after some more gutter scrapping.

Hope you two are out of lockdown soon. How irritating. The Ranger looks awesome with that silky smooth 845 glow. It's still one of my favorite products.

As predicted...the tire coating streaked It didn't turn brown and flake like before, but I sprayed Gyeon Tire cleaner on there, let it sit and swiped away. I'm going to go back out there and observe and go from there. I'm going use Alien Kleen @3:1, let dwell, scrub and swipe off. The weather will be off and on bad this weekend but I'll be scrubbing and cleaning it off.

I think I'll use my go to, Adam's graphene tire dressing, for a while and after a while do a good strip and clean and try the coating again. I can't stand the tires in a natrual state, enhancement is always a winner

Ok...I scrubbed and swiped away the Optimum tire coating with 3x's spray/dwell/scrub and swipe away using Gyeon Tire cleaner and short brissel brush. Once done I sprayed all 4 tires with another round of the Gyeon Tire cleaner and I'm leaving it soak in and will be washes away by the incoming storm...stay "tuned"

A clean tire is the key to any coating or dressing. I used the TufShine system on the Buick a couple of years ago and I was very happy with the results. I wanted to get it right the first time so I used their tire cleaner with the TufShine brush. It took four scrubbings until the tires were completely clean. The coating lasted about a year.
I was surprised to hear that the Optimum tire coating was a bad product. I expected better from them.

My buddy has NO problem with it though, maybe I got a bad batch Also I thought I heard Optimum themselves talk about issues or maybe a YouTube reviewer, can't recall. That said, FWIW, you hear Z E R O about this product, the silence is deafening

I have detailed this Suzuki Swift Sport a couple of times for my neighbor, today's effort was to get it ready for sale.

The Swift has not seen much use over the last few years due to the owners failing health, so not a lot needed doing. A wash, some spot polishing and a quick engine bay detail is all that was needed. And being so small meant I got through rather quick.

Today was the first chance to try out my new Tornador, making short work of the carpet mats and engine bay.

Now ready for sale.

I also got a chance to take the car for a much needed run. These Swift Sport's were quite well regarded in their day, having a range of key improvements over the base car. The main one being a larger 1.6 litre engine with 134 hp at 6900 rpm. Now that figure sounds pretty tame, but the Swift only weighs 2403 lbs so it gets up and goes when provoked. I imagine this car would be a riot with a manual transmission, this example is fitted with a CVT with 7 preset ratios that does sap some of it potential. The Swift Sport is pretty firmly ties down so is quite agile, and the steering wheel is a delight to hold.

As a car guy, I enjoy getting to briefly drive customer cars, expanding my interest in different vehicles from my own.

That is a pretty good looking car, tailights remind me of a Renault

Sat morning full on wash of the ES

I started by pre-treating the wheelwells with Alien Kleen. I then moved onto the tires. I foamed them with Griot's Garage foaming tire cleaner, moved onto the rims with Brake Buster and used all 4 brushes. I should mention I even pre-treated the tires last night with Gyeon Tire cleaner as well. Finishing up I sprayed all 4 rims with Meg's HCW @3:1, let sit for 5 minutes and rinsed away.

Up next was a pre-wash using my IK 1.5 w/ 2 ounces of IGL Blizzard snow foam. I let it dwell and rinsed away and got ready for the 2BM. For the contact wash I used Bilt-Hamber carwash soap. This product is so concentrated that .5 ounce was all that it took to produce insane suds! After rinsing the car it was time to dry it off.

I didn't use the free flowing water for the rinse but rather the regular spray so to have beads. For a drying aid I used Adam's Slick and Slide and a glass drying towel, DPC drying towel and 2 Gauntlets. Between the quality pre-wash, 2BM and the Slick and Slide it had that "extra G L O W"

I then dried the tires and wheels and with a 2nd mf towel I dispensed some Griot's Garage rubber prep to the cleaned and dried tires. I did this 2x's and they looked better than new at this point. I should also mention NO browning to be found during any of this process. At this point it was time to make these tires look great AND protected

I applied 2x's Feynlab Black Velvet to the tires, 15 minutes inbetween coats. The picture posted is after the 2nd coat and about 15 minutes of dry time. For those who don't know this product is black in color with a slight blue hue when applying. I think they look great

I finished up by cleaning the outside windows, vac of the interior and Adam's leather scent on the carpeted mats. Thank you for reading if you made it through

Hi Roger. I know that you live in a condo. How do you get access to free flowing water?
