What did you do today, in regards to detailing?

My daughter and I took the ES to a great touch-free wash right up the street from my work. A co-worker told me how good it was so I had to check it out.

When getting there I sprayed down the tires and wheels with TWHS Hyper Foam and let it sit and we went inside to buy the carwash. By the time we came out it definitely pulled the brown out of the tires, love this stuff

I paid $16.00 and this was the top tier wash and upon the doors opening I was already happy...no tracks to get your tires into, not that this is a problem for me but still The underbody wash was strong, double soap, rinse, multi color wax, rinse and spot-free rinse. The dryer was stationary and you drive thru watching the remaining time...perfect

During the entire process my daughter liked the changing colors in the wash and "bubble gum" smelling stuff (which was the wax) being applied to the car. It's all about the little things sometimes

Now it was time 19 degrees so I didn't even bother drying the car, just drove home and ofcoarse it has frozen specs but hey, it's 19 outside but better than before

Here's the before pics, no afters

FINALLY got a proper driveway wash/detail in! After a busy morning, grocery shopping etc... got out about 1PM. 36-39 out. Knocked off about a month and a half of winter abuse. Interior too. Did not notice any real defects on the paint. Came clean. Looked good. Guessing TWHS line is earning it's keep. Finished up with TW WW for the drying aid and put another coat of Wolfstiens tonneau cover protectant on the tonneau. About 3 hours for the job. It was strange seeing a clean truck.

What is the difference between Dreamaker and Beadmaker?

Dream Maker is a pure gloss enhancer, nothing more -

Bead Maker is a gloss enhancer with an element of protection -

Paint Gloss is a gloss enhancer with mild cleaning ability -

I think Paint Gloss is under-rated, I love using it.

Ok, thx for clarifying. I had almost forgot about Paint Gloss or for some reason must’ve thought Dream Maker replaced Paint Gloss…

I was under the impression that Dream Maker was a detail spray but it’s only to add gloss eh? Well that’s fine because Beadmaker doesn’t do any quick detailing for me [obviously]

So I’m under the impression that Dream Maker leaves a noticeably glossier result than Beadmaker? I’d be willing to jump in for that however I do kind of like the spray sealant advantages that BM provides but I’m starting to get to that fine line where I sometimes look at my car the next day or 2 and think about how much dust on my paint is BM’ers fault.

I’ll probably start with both BM and DM available on my shelf and I won’t be in a rush to eliminate 1 because of the other.

For some reason, I find Bead Maker easier to use than Dream Maker, which is often the opposite of what others have described.

I have used all three of those products as drying aids. Paint Gloss and Bead Maker are the ones I grab the most.

What issue do you have with using Dream Maker I have used all 3 myself and I'm one of those people who've had no issues with any of them. I can't really comment on the dusting w/ Beadmaker because I didn't notice it.

What I can surely comment on is the Gloss of Dream Maker, it's noticeable Most of here are in tune with their paint and I'd be surprises if after using Dream Maker you don't see a difference. I'm surprised it's not offered in a gallon yet, what's the hold up

Ric, I'm looking forward to your impressions of Dream Maker, especially since your Caddy has a nice color on it

I found a battery powered mini air compressor on Amazon that was on sale (originally $70, marked down to $45) Now when I get my IK Foam 12 and go to use it I don't have to stop and pump it up or even use my Ryobi to add more air to it. It charges via USB type C cord too.

I can't wait for the weather to break now more than ever

Thanks for the explanation. I just started using Beadmaker and I really like the product. I also like the fact that I am putting down a layer of protection as well as a great shine. I just wish the protection lasted longer but I love the slick feel. It really helped clean the salt and road yuck off the Buick. Dreamaker sounds like a simple detail spray that lays down a shine. Paint Gloss sounds more interesting. That could probably be used as a waterless wash since it has cleaning abilities.

No gallons yet? I’m guessing it shouldn’t be too long before they do.

Just as long as you remember that it’s not a detail spray. Seriously it’s not a detail spray.

Detail Related thing for the day: Crazy Oxididized plastic trim.

There was no amount of cleaning or trim restoring products thatd would make a difference on this plastic exterior trim.

Thank goodness for sometimes useful detailing hacks. In this case, using a heat gun brought it back to looking like new.
Here’s the results from just the heat gun.

Looking good! Is that the burnt orange color or red? I can argue it either way in that picture...

Thanks!

It is called Inferno and it is more orange than red although it can look dramatically different in different light

My wife bought it sight unseen and we both thought it was the redder color and we were quite surprised when we actually saw it

It has grown on me

Chilly - You really need to work on the background of your pictures. Is that the best you could do? Lol! I’m jealous. And I like that color too.

Well, if I drive it down the hill to the beach and do a palm tree background shot it would be covered in dust and look like crap

lol

And Fanks!!!
