What did you do today, in regards to detailing?

The Hyundai looks awesome as always klasse!

Bdubbs- the Fox interior looks super clean. Maybe I missed it, but how many miles are on it if you don’t mind me asking?

Today was spring like. My Jeep has not even been sprayed off or anything since February 7th. Today I changed that.

3D Pink soap wash through a cannon
PFM to dry
DP Need for Bead as the fk1000P is done for in spots.
Vacuum
Duragloss interior detailer.
I’ll clean the leather later with Blackfire Leather Complete.

So muddy that one of my locks was filled with mud. The door handles left my hands dirty just getting in and out every day. Sometimes I do spray some ONR Q/D ratio on the drivers handle to combat this.

This was all from daily driving and the condition of the dirt roads around here btw.

All done, not dressing the tires. They’ll get dirty anyway.

I sprayed the mud on the driveway for about 10 minutes and gave up lol. I’ll sweep it up if it dries tomorrow.

So you see how dirty it gets, now that it’s clean I’ll get a smart ass comment from someone about my pavement Jeep. While I enjoy driving back roads (one section had road hazard signs placed in the roadway warning of water being over the road, that was fun!), I’m ready for warm weather and getting the Camaro out. Also, look forward to taking the top off the Jeep.

Gave my wife’s van a wash and started some polishing. I’m not sure where she parked but the whole car had water spots though more on the right side than the left. Still have plenty of polishing to do and with rain upcoming, I expect it may take a week or more to get her van done.

Here are the products I used.
McKee’s N-914 Rinseless Wash
Flex CBeast
Flex PXE80
Rupes Blue Coarse Wool pad
Rupes Yellow Medium Wool pad
Diamondtite Glass Polish
Blackfire One Step (Since I’m going to need multiple days to finish and want some basic protection. Will likely put on the Meguiars Coating I picked up on clearance in the fall.)

I polished the entire windshield starting with the upper left.

And here’s the rear side glass where I taped a line.

A rinseless wash on a cold sunny day. The interior also got the full treatment. The Weathertech mats were cleaned and treated with their cleaner and protectant. For the interior, 303 is my favorite protectant. Not bad for a 14 year old truck.
The exterior got a treatment of Beadmaker.

Davy your truck looks brand new, and I mean that in the true sense of it. I’m very familiar with those trucks, as I had one and still do like them. I never see that body style that clean. Most have started to rot through the rear wheel wells.

I’d be very proud taking that out for a drive. How many unsolicited offers do you get per week of people trying to buy it?

Thanks JD. I have had people offer me $15,000-$20,000 for the truck but I still want to hold on to it. A new truck that I would like costs $60,000+. I bought it in August 2008 when gas was over $4.00 a gallon and they were giving away trucks and SUVs. I got a great deal. Today it only has 90,000 miles.
It has a lot of corrosion on the undercarriage but I do spray it down with FluidFilm. There are some small spots where the paint is pitting but so far no heavy rust.

I understand the undercarriage battle well. Makes me sad to be honest.

Keep on enjoying that beauty!

"Spring cleaning" of flushing out the undercarage and all the hiding spots and fluid film touch ups if needed are keys to successfully extending the life of an undercarage. Similar as some do to the paint

The paint is gorgeous and the interior looks brand new

it is immaculate

I just placed another order from Autogeek! My first plan of attack on cleaning the engine bay is trying Wolfgang engine cleaner. It's buy 1 bottle get 1 free! I like that I can just wipe it off without water.

Also ordered the exterior trim sealant which can be used on rubber hoses.

The last picture doesn't make it look as dirty, but obviously with some light you can see it's filthy.

Edit: Hopefully I can use this cleaner on the engine bay fender paint?

I'm familiar with those too.
I owned two a 2007 and a 2011.
Solid trucks.
Only trouble I had was two sensors one one and the oil pressure sending unit on the other.
175,000 miles on the 07 and 215,000 on the 11.

Wife's tailgate had to get replaced/repaired due to an accident. On the tailgate was a school magnet. I took it off before getting the repair done.

Weeks later she realizes she'd like it back on, and goes to put it back on the corner of the tailgate.

"STOP!!!!!!" I shout.

"OMG what's wrong?" she asks.

"You can't just put that back on. It's filthy, you'll scratch that new paint unless you wash it."

SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO I busted out my RW bucket which had water that was was SO cold, impossibly cold. But I reached in and grabbed the BRS and took a nice swipe all over the tailgate.

This was the first detail-related thing I've done since mid November :bolt:

Echo what others have said, trucks looks amazing for the age, fantastic!!!

I finally managed to get my hands on a bottle of CarPro ReTyre. The XR6 was next in line for attention so it became the test subject.

For some reason, my sample was not sent with the standard foaming trigger. I have seen reviews that complain about how the foaming trigger uses product quite quickly. For my test today, I used a surplus Tolco style CarPro trigger sprayer.

Agitated with a brush, the product foamed up slightly and rinsed away easily. These tyres were not especially dirty so there was limited reaction from the product. However, once dried the tyre did not exhibit the bare, matte look I would normally get from Wise Guy or Brake Buster. I have a foaming tip that will fit this sprayer head so I need to try it out with that before giving a final verdict on ReTyre, as it stands I am a little disappointed.

Having said that, the tyres did dress up nicely.

The rest of the car got my usual 2 hour treatment.........

The XR6 gets the least amount of detailing action these days, I don't drive it as much as the others. But when I do give some attention, the way Sensation Blue shines makes me weak at the knees. A very non-car-guy colleague once spotted it parked down town, he said he knew it was mine because it was "glowing". I have never forgotten that comment because he was right, Sensation positively glows. :D

Finally got a bucket wash:

Pre foamed with BHAF out of IKfoam pro 12

50/50

ca705dbb2e4379aece596673279e56b6.jpg

Got to try BHAF. 1.5 teaspoons (?!) to 3 gallons of water. A little more than what is recommended.

a28915844170e6c8dff97695b2809e21.jpg

Foams nicely in bucket but not real foamy in mitt….

126ac878e8c20c44ba4ad80349b36d57.jpg

As said low foam but nice lubricity on paint. Cleans well. Reminds of reset in feel with a slight nod to reset in slickness. If it were more economical in price it would stay in the rotation but because it’s imported to US not quite as cost efficient.

My try HyperWash but most likely will just use Reset exclusively.

Brake Buster sprayed on wheels and tires. Optimum car wash on wheels. Nice foam but not as slick as BHAW and Reset.

Dried with a PFM (forgot to charge new Ego) and Ech20 as drying aid. Wanted to dry dream maker as a DA but was getting dark and if that happens I like to use a WW as a drying aid incase i missed a spot.

I really like Glassparency Boost as a drying aid. Didn’t really care for P&S Dream Maker or Sonax Ceramic Ultra Slick Detailer after using Glassparency Boost.
