What did you do today, in regards to detailing?

No, I don't really remember that other person. FunX750 seemed to have a pretty good chemistry knowledge but not detailing industry, per se.

He's another fine member sadly lost to time

Continuation from the other thread so we don’t derail it too bad…

I’ll find his username someday. It can’t be impossible to find, heck it took less than 5min. to find the both of you from 20yrs. ago!lol.

Wow, the old Piscataway GTG, the first and only of its kind I’ve ever been to. I would’ve thought for sure other detailing nuts only exist in cyber land

Please explain. What the heck is the Piscataway GTG?

A get together of detailing nuts held at PAL Automotive in PIscataway, NJ hosted by Rod Kraft then with Meguiar's I brought some fenders for him to demonstrate the rotary on.

I recall that name, Rod Kraft.

It’s crazy the simple yet interesting feeling that just looking at those thread titles from 20yrs. ago brings. Detailing was alot more simple back then yet super interesting. I would spend hours & hours reading all that stuff. I was the king of lurk. Lol

Rod is an excellent instructor. It was a pleasure learning from him. I used to read constantly absorbing everything I could. Learning is still my primary motivator for being on the forums.

Rod Kraft was a Kevin Brown kind of figure right?

Wow, I didn't realize that was in 2004, I thought maybe the year after. That was the only time Bill and I met IRL, before he abandoned the rest of us in Jersey to go to Florida.

Rod Kraft works for Griot's now, if you guys didn't get the memo. I guess he still lives in MD, back in 2004 and for a long time after he was the Atlantic states Meg's rep.

For the youngsters, back in 2004 there were hardly any pictures on the forums, let alone video, so an in-person training class taught by a Meg's rep and hosted by a detail supply shop was one of the only ways to really understand machine polishing.

EDIT: Here's the thread: Open Detailing Class August 21st, - Piscataway, New Jersey - Car Care Forums: Meguiar's Online

I forgot Beercan was at that, I met him a couple other times at Poorboy's when he was still up here. And of course JChetty, I wonder what ever happened to him? He was a wildman with that Civic(?) of his, cleaning the doorjambs, etc. A few other familiar names, onawrxhigh, Lost Pup..and n1976jmk floated back in here or to Autopia a few years ago.

That screenshot packed quite the nostalgic punch eh?lol. That’s awesome.

I can only hope a GTG happens around here. I'd have to go to Stuart if I ever want to attend another one.

Eldo, I don't remember, did you say you had been to a class or a Thursday night at Meg's in Irvine?

How far are you from Stuart, Bill? Are you on the other coast? Is Nick doing classes over there? I know they are doing a cars and coffee once a month.

EDIT: I don't see any classes offered, I guess that was just a Mike P. thing. C&C first Saturday of every month.

I'm on the same coast but at least three hours away if I remember correctly. No cars and coffee here. There's only the Turkey Run in Daytona which to me isn't worth the hassle

I was trying to find a couple of cool pictures of my previous car inside of the Meguiars Garage but I can’t find them right now.

Yea I took a some classes there too. I still have my certificates that I had laminated. Wow it’s been 10yrs. ago.

Now going to one of those has to be a real treat

Yea I’ve been there a bunch of times however it’s been like 4yrs. or more since my last visit. I need to go back this summer and hopefully see some old friends.

Here’s me with Barry Meguiar.

Is Barry still around over there? That's cool you went to a clinic taught by Jason Rose, I get so confused with all these videos, I'm pretty sure Jason was there when I was at the iBrid Nano rollout at Detailer's Domain some years ago, Larry Ammo was there, too. That wasn't a class, it was more of a demo.

EDIT: Yes, Jason was at DD: Some pictures from the Detailers Domain event

I met Mr Meguiar at the Amelia. Also saw Chip Foose and Wayne Carini from a distance

Barry is a great guy to chat with.

Last time I went yea I saw Barry there several times. He’s a real nice guy so is everyone there. Funny thing about meeting Jason Rose.. I had found out the Thursday just before that Mike Stoops was gonna call in sick for the Saturday class which meant that Jason Rose would have to fill in for him. So that’s when I decided to sign up in order to get to meet him. He shows up for the class in a bad mood because it was a sudden fill in. Lol.

And we’re introducing each other to the class and I guess he finds out or I tell him that I’ve been here before so he asks “so why’d you come back”? As if I couldn’t learn what they taught the 1st time… But then I said “oh I found out this past Thursday that you’d be here, so I wanted to meet you” And he went from grumpy to a big smile on his face for a second like he felt speciallol.
He was like “oh really?! Ok cool”! Lol.

He turned out to be super cool. Funny guy cracking jokes all day. Lol.

Funny I met Chip Foose & Wayne Carini that day we filmed Competition Ready with Mike Phillips. I wish I could do that everyday.
