Gas prices

Sheetz used to do that bs where they would only let me pump 75 bucks worth of petro if you didnt have your sheetz card with you to scan first. Used to piss me off.

Getgo makes you go inside and pre pay for petro if you are using a pump on the very ends and not scanning a advantage card. They used to say its easier for ppl to steal, cuz the advantage card has your personal info incase you pull away without paying

I ran into that $75-$100 max BS in California in 2016 when we bought the motorhome in Arizona and drove it north to Alaska

It had a 150 gallon tank and I frequently needed 3 credit cards to fill it all the way up

I tried going into truck stops for fuel but the big rig guys didn't seem to appreciate me being in their lines

I looked into a trip to Fairbanks, AK this past summer and the car and hotel prices were outrageous so I’ll look into that as a possible future trip.

It’s like every tourist destination is still trying to make up for lost revenue from CoVid shutdowns

It’s criminal

MSN

Despite all the doom and gloom we are in a better position than most.

“The U.S. will outperform other markets, currencies and economies…”

MSN? They certainly are the standard and bastion of truth

Yep
With all of the natural resources we have-- probably the most & best on the planet- we should just thank our government that they even allow us to eat anything and have what we have-- at least for now
Sheesh

Do you know who Mohamed El-Erian is or did you think you were listening to MSNBC make those points?

No
But America should be out performing everyone, why shouldn't we?

I was just curious. Well I hope he is right but who knows….

HEY! I have a good idea!!

Let's use 87% of our industrial corn (like that used for animal feed) and use it for FUEL!!

Sure, it will drive up the price of beef, chicken, pork, eggs, baked goods, cereal, etc. but what's the big deal??

Hey-- I got a good idea also
Lets take one MILLION barrels of oil out of OUR STRATEGIC RESERVES & sell it to chyna!

OH sorry, my mistake- biden thought of it first and is implementing it

You cant even make this crap up

I've only ever had to prepay for fuel once, while on a trip in the outback. Generally in Australia, you just pull up to the pump, select your flavour, pump it, then go in and pay.

Use to be like that here about 50 yrs ago

We picked up the Lexus in Tacoma on July 29th and headed out on a 5,000 mile road trip that ended last Thursday

We paid as little as $3.99 for regular in Oregon and as much as $2.09 Canadian for a liter in the Yukon

Gas in Anchorage area is all over the board from $4.49 to $5.09 at Shell stations

The weird phenomenon we saw on our trip that I had never encountered before was stations that captured huge amounts, over and above the purchase amount on credit cards when you paid at the pump

I know debit cards used to do that but I haven't used one in years

A Love's Truck Stop in Madras Oregon captured $175 for 2.6 gallons of gas (the Lexus is a Hybrid) and this was the first of many that did it

One station in Haines Alaska captured $300

We get instant alerts on our phones for large or unusual purchases and as I said, we hadn't run into this before

The captured amounts all went off the account the next business day but I know that could be a huge deal for some people, locking up what might be their only available credit

Wish I known you were in Tacoma. We coulda did lunch and “dealer prepped it”

This is a perfect illustration of what the climate change folks dont want you to know...how ev gets part of their power to charge the batteries.... Fossil fuels.

As our fearless leaders become more persistant on removing earths resources from being extracted to power our everday lives in so many ways...all in the name of the highly politicized "climate change". Scaring gullible folks into believeing in the impending doom if we dont stop almost immediately using fossil fuels for 100 percent green energy.

The world is not ready for it, but we are told otherwise and that we need it now.

Please dont believe in the scare tactics folks...we are being pushing into doing something that not everyone believes we are ready for, or need.

We have been shown over the last almost few years that the average joes/does will be bullied i to submission. Hope folks have or are learning we need peaceful non compliance, as they are just waiting for a reason to go full dictatorship.

We are a consitutional republic, not a banana republic. Lets not lose sight of that.

Sorry for the rant lol

Man, that would have been awesome

I knew it would be filthy despite being shipped in a closed container because it sat outside at Matson for a week before we could get there from Alaska

Just finding a touchless wash in Tacoma was challenging

I also passed up on going to the Griot's "Flagship Store" because I knew I would go crazy and I had already made my wife promise NO SHOPPING on the trip because we had 5,000 miles to go and I wanted to be able to see out the rear window

We actually did pretty good

Electric vehicles make sense for those that have the ability to charge on a daily basis, which is primarily those that have charging capability at home or at work. Those that live in apartments or regularly travel long distances aren’t a good use case for electric vehicles given today’s technology and resources.

Electric vehicles don’t make sense for everyone as we are still in the early stages of their life. Some of the larger car makers haven’t even started competing yet. And some car makers are still looking at other technologies other than battery power cars such as hydrogen fuel cells.

But we have to stop using perfect as the enemy of progress. Electric vehicles aren’t perfect but neither are gas vehicles, which are less than 40% efficient due to wasting most of the fuel’s energy on heat. I really don’t care what is the end goal as long as we’re improving. We should improve every day as individuals and as a civilization.

I don’t necessarily agree with stop gas vehicle sale mandates as that puts an artificial line in the sand that some people rail against. But really it is more of a goal to improve and really means nothing since it won’t be implemented if there isn’t better infrastructure. But if that line or goal is used as a means of improving, then let’s hope we continue improving, in whatever direction makes sense given our technology and resources. Doing nothing should not be an option.
