Finally got my doors repainted, due to clearcoat failure. The drivers side doors had been previously repainted when it had been backed into years ago. So thats the only area that the clear was lifting.

Found some rust starting under the trim pieces where the panel had been body worked. So had to grind all the rust out. Found another little spot behind the front mudflap that needed grinded out and fixed as well.

Also resanded the front grille and had that resprayed. It originally was a chrome grille but I rattle canned colormatched it years ago and held up well but needed freshened up.

Some of the rust could not be ground out deep enough as i was afraid to blow right through the metal and did not want to do any patch work. So found this product called loctite naval jelly rust dissolver. With multiple treatments it removed what rust remained!

I did the prep work. Thanks to my buddy who did the body/paint work. Did great job.

Im leaving the ugly door trim off as it looks so much better now!

I will be in the future doing a full paint correction and then its gettin gyeonized. Last time it was paint corrected/ceramic coated was feb 2019. That was when i just started out with a megs mt300 da and their microfiber pads and d300 coumpound. Oh how ive stepped up my game since then! Lol

Thanks for looking. I will post up some more pics when i paint correct/ceramic coat it.

Big improvement-- good job!!
Thankyou! Definately liking the truck again. I was losing interest in it with how terrible those doors and that old shat trim were looking

Great job! The Silverado looks way better now. Enjoy it as long as you can. New trucks are getting ridiculously expensive these days.

They sure are! And more ugly imo lol.

Ive already had it 10 years. Its only got 125,000 miles on it, and only gets a few thousand added every year. Its not a rot box like most of the cat eye bodys are nowadays. The way everything is now i dont see myself getting rid of it for some years yet.

Keep it on the road man. I have an OBS suburban I am restoring as we speak. Hope to post pics of the project here when done.

Nice work!

Finally 2 step correction today, had to wait 30 days post both b4 sealing the paint.

Plan was to use gyeon pure evo, and top with cure for safety as its supposed to rain next couple days. Mother nature gave me a middle finger as i was half done polishing. And continued to sprinkle on and off for the next hour or two.

Quick thinking, i figured id forgo trying to apply pure evo right now and snagged 3d poxy and buzzed around the finished panels. Worked inbetween sprinkles and finished polishing. In the end gave a final wipe down with 3d bead it up.

Figured in a couple weeks or when weather is better i can do a carpro descale, and bilt hamber on the truck and strip the clear bare and apply pure evo then.

Flex rotary rupes blue coarse wool pads 3d aca 510 for 1st step.

Flex supa beast white lc force hybrid pads 3d aat502 for 2nd step.

Honestly didnt think it looked any different until i took a picture of it. And got a compliment when i went to store get some beer.

Nice work. With the elevated prices of new and used vehicles, I would be safe to say people are holding on to what they have longer. And spending the money on what they need to keep it or put it right.

Very nice. I had the same truck at one time.....put 141k on it before getting a Tundra. Always hated those trim pieces

Thanks folks! The truck aint perfect but better than most of others out there of the classic body style.

Figure i get a couple more years outta it, by then hopefully gm comes out with something decent looking. Got used to to many years without a truck payment, dont want to start now lol. Hell a full repsray of the whole thing would be cheaper.

And yeah those trim pieces was always an eye sore, so much cleaner of a look when removed
