Pan the Organizer product line...let's discuss@

I left a post on his youtube video about claiming his was the best. He stated that all sellers make that claim. That is not true.

Tomorrow, we will have another best.

These huge companies are well established and cater to the enthusiasts already (Gyeon, CarPro for example), so not sure how upstarts even have a chance at long term success, maybe they're in it for the quick buck, can always fall back on YouTube reviews

Griot's Garage may not all the bases covered but they've got us covered AND are available OTC AND are real car people, that matters to me FWIW

Now I know the majority of us can't relate to alot of this but if you listen and watch you'll know this company cares, period! I've been a customer for almost 20 years and they walk the line between consumers and higher end products/tools/gear, they say "Customers for Life", well, applies to me for sure and with Nick taking over a couple years ago Griot's Garage has gotten a steady flow of new products, I for one appreciate this

I'm hoping ADS isn't "flavor of the month", time will tell but per Guz, ADS Quartz is MUCH, MUCH better than my Gyeon Q2 Pure EVO

That's interesting to hear. You like it a lot better than Pure EVO? I applied Pure EVO for a second time on my car I liked it so much. Curious to hear why you like ADS' coating so much better.

I do like ADS' Amplify. Guz pointed me to that one and I've really liked it. I've just about used up the bottle and I'm really torn. I want to try NV Nova Boost, simply because I'm curious about NV's products, but at the same time Amplify has worked so well for me. Hmmm.....

I chose ADS Quartz because it felt right and hearing from Guz and Deyon sealed the deal, stay "tuned".

It will be applied 5 days before I go to the Dragon too

Well, in a roundabout way of answering that, many years ago, the original owner of Autopia posed a question to members: Would you be ok paying a lot more for a boutique product that was simply a bulk product put into a smaller bottle, if you got personalized service on how to use the product, and could buy it in the quantity you wanted?

Granted, what he was trying to do was throw shade at a competitor to his own product lines who was getting a lot of play on his forum, and either by happenstance or help or hints from him, members quickly found a large blender who had products that were unmistakably "the same" (we'll never really know that, of course), where you could buy a gallon for twice what the boutique was charging for 16 oz. Members then quickly found a customer of the blender who was selling in 16oz bottles for a lot less than the boutique, and another "flavor of the month" was born.

My point is that these "upstarts" who don't have their own chemists or manufacturing facilities, are able to find a niche (sometimes a PBMG-sized niche) through whatever combination of charisma, marketing, etc., even when they don't have the resources of a Meguiar's, Mothers, Griot's, etc.

I'm sorry but I'm out

I've heard of this other guy but I felt like I was at a horrible comedy club mixed with QVC. Whomever the other person is mentioned has a stake in this too

I heard that Jimbo has his own line as well, it has to suck because he's a fraud, straight up, never liked him at all

FWIW I unsub'd to Pan's channel too....

What the hell is this

And the hype is attempted to be built.

Should say have no intention of buying any of the new Clean products, not that I have anything against Pan but I already have more good detailing products than I need. Which leads me to my point.

The consumer detailing market is somewhat limited. After all the average person does not care about detailing their car and many don't even wash their own vehicles. In opposition to that the market seems to be flooded with all types of detailing products. Just look how many rinseless washes are available and the average Joe discussed above doesn't even know rinseless wash exists. It seems impossible that all these product peddlers could possibly prosper or even survive in such a market. Considering all this I am wondering about the feasibility of launching a boutique brand in an already saturated market.

Well, I'd say the enthusiast/boutique market has exploded in the 20 years since I've been on detailing forums. I would say it might be an order of magnitude larger than it was 20 years ago. Just a couple of examples...20 years ago the original PC polisher was going for about $150 from Autogeek etc. That was too pricey for many people, who would get one from Lowes for $120. Now people hardly bat an eye at dumping more than $500 on a Rupes, etc., and most people here have more than one polisher.

Also, Griot's, which 20 years ago was a mail order catalog for middle-aged men to spend too much for detailing supplies (ala Brookstone tools), is now sold at AutoZone (Advanced?), exposing a lot more people to what is now a legit enthusiast product line. The reason Griot's is being sold at a national auto parts store--is because the market has grown for these type of products. No more prowling the hot rod shops and auto paint stores hoping to find Meguiar's professional products like I was doing before the internet.

I think the market is plenty big enough for these "upstarts"; they are creating the market for themselves through YouTube. I think some of you younger guys don't realize that before the internet, it was almost impossible to find the kind of information that we can now routinely get. If you were lucky, Car & Driver might have a special advertising section in the middle of an issue once every few years, sponsored by Meguiar's or Mothers, with a few articles on how to wash your car and put some wax on. Or you might be lucky and find an auto maintenance book in the bookstore with a chapter on car detailing. Those sources were laughable in comparison to what you can find on the internet now in a few minutes.

Just think about this for a minute--20 years ago, when this forum didn't exist, if you went on Autopia, the only polisher anyone had or was buying was a rotary, or a Porter Cable 7424, which was an orbital sander that had been pressed into car detailing duty, probably by Meguiar's, who sold a branded version of it. Fast forward to today, where there are entire lines of dedicated detailing machines from Flex, Rupes, Griot's, as well as tons of Asian brands of small polishers and knockoffs. Why? Because the market for this stuff is huge and growing.

To me it is simply about Pan, and the way he has conducted himself in the past

He treated the forum as his personal fiefdom, shilling for his UToob channel, and treated the people on the forum like crap when he got called out

He got caught with his hand in the cookie jar, selling favorable product reviews, and took a huge hit in his fanboy base, yet figured a way to schmooze his way back from that (there is a sucker born every minute)

He may have some detailing chops, but he has zero credibility in my book

@DFB hit the nail on the head; he is truly a DUCK

I guess this took a little while to sink in, I am a bit gobsmacked that these 3 YouTubers have gotten together and started their own lines, and their own web store, to which the 2 lines are exclusive. On the one hand, good for them...on the other hand, the whole thing seems crazy and amateurish, especially since Pan has been so polished in his presentations, and also so divergent for reviewers who have seemed beholden to so many brands that they have reviewed and pushed with discounts.

I will say we have had forum members who have gone on to start their own lines and/or web stores, Garry Dean, Corey at Sky's the Limit, who was that other guy?

In the end that's really it for me. Somebody might have the BEST product or service (and jury's still way out on that here) but if I find someone associated with it (the owner, pitchman, whomever) just really rubs me the wrong way (like Pan) then I won't buy it. It's that simple. It's not like these folks are selling oxygen or something I NEED to survive and they are the only source, it's fricking car polish stuff. Like anything else there's a competitive market so even when I knowingly turn away from something I might believe IS the *best*, for whatever reason, usually "next best" is more than good enough.

Possibly, but that's not who I'm thinking of. All those guys who started their own biz quit the forum so as not to have a conflict of interest.

I clicked on it...but I couldn't watch it.
DJ Kalid is NOT funny I mean a joke here and there, fine, but he doesn't talk and act like that off camera...right
