What did you do today, in regards to detailing?

Noticed my 2 week old license plate tab, sticker as it's called here in Illinoyed, came off...wonder how THAT happened

Well, used to be that would cost you good but under JB the law's been changed and the replacement's free - but you need to file a police report. After applying my sticker I always whip out my EDC and scour an "X" pattern through the sticker so it can't be removed intact. It can still be removed by a dedicated, patient thief but will have limited value after that.

Thanks for the heads up, I'm just going to my local currency exchange and buy a new one

Ohhhh, you think it got stolen, I'm I'm downtown Palatine and although theives are everywhere that's not what happened. Apparently the sticker was blown off at the touch-free wash. When I put the new on I scratched the old one off with a knife but DID NOT clean it underneath with glass cleaner/Alien Kleen/polish, I used all 3 this time

Oh, yeah, well dirt's not particularly known for it's ability to bond two surfaces. :)
Odd, though - think the fanciest I've ever gotten for surface prep for my annual sticker replacement is remembering to grab a rag or paper towel and spitting on the plate before rubbing it a bit. Moved to Illinois almost 50 years ago and have never lost one, even to theft.

Sorry for the crap picture of the wheels/tyres but it's to windy to put up the roller door.

120ml of Product the rest water in a 1000ml bottle,
This product does not foam like Brake Buster when cleaning the tyres but will foam on the wheels.

Question.

Will PPF stick to a coating that is still in it's prime?

Depends on who you talk to. Most will say no, the paint should be completely bare. But I have seen PPF applied to a vehicle with a freshly applied coating, completely overkill but doable.

My worry is the few installers I have at my disposal will say it needs removed, and then I'm paying for a ton of labor that may not be necessary. The car doesn't need polished from an imperfection standpoint. It's bloody flawless save two small stone chips. Which is why I want PPF so bad.

I've never had a coating however from the limited knowledge i have concerning them is one of ceramic coatings main purposes is to avoid things bonding to them. Therefore applying ppf to a coating goes against conventional wisdom.
Also applying ppf to a coating seems akin to wearing a belt and suspenders. Chips happen. Only way to completely avoid them is to never drive your car.

For optimal results PPF should be applied to bare paint. If the installer says it is ok to apply over the coating I would get that in writing just in case the PPF lifts prematurely.

Had a bunch of caked on dead grass after mowing damp grass yesterday and fired up the Active 2.3 to clean it off. When I looked to my left I noticed my foam cannon with just enough Hydr02 foam left over from the weekend’s job to wash off the debris and all I can say is that you won’t find a lawnmower this side of the Mason Dixon with better water beading.

PPF prevents all but the largest stone chips. The front end of my GTI looked brand new after 60,000 miles thanks to one. That's why I want one. Coatings prevent things I can address with a quick polish. I can't polish stone chips :(

That is a good idea. I feel they will say it needs removed just to cover their own butts, I would.
