Hi all,

I am 04lss. I am an enthusiast, definitely not a pro, though I like to try and get pro results. I started "Detailing" in maybe 2013 when i was in my late teens with the first car I bought on my own. It started with a Meguiars "new car care" kit. Some car wash, a claybar and some wax. A slow learning curve for the next few years as i tried out different interior detailers, etc. Heck, i was afraid of wheel cleaner back then. Eventually I got my first Polisher, the good old Harbor freight DA. It didnt really do much as I never could get it to provide results. I tried some waterless washes etc. Things really picked up when I got my Griots polisher and some good pads. I got ADDICTED to paint correction.

I Love paint correcting a neglected vehicle, and I enjoy paint correcting a car thats close to new. I have a love hate relationship with cars that are too far gone to look good again, or just gone enough that even after paint correction the paint wont be nearly perfect. My last used car drove me nuts because it wast just gone enough with chips and deeper scratches that it couldnt quite look show room fresh. That didnt stop me from trying of course. Give me a 20 year old truck that still has clear? Ill eat that up. I love a rescue detail. I love the end result of an interior detail but it doesnt hold the same appeal as paint.

At this point, detailing is probably one of my most focused hobbies, half of my youtube subscriptions are some detailer or another.

Define Paint Correction
Compounding, polishing, that sort of correction. i dont delve into wet sanding except on old headlights.

An example, years ago I bought a 99 tahoe for a thousand bucks. It was supposed to be black but it had so many swirls it looked gray. I was able to compound and polish it back to a shine. If it wasnt for the rust folks might have thought it was kept in a garage.

Same thing with the 04 suburban that replaced it. That one was rust free and actually looked really good after a two stage.

ive polished friends cars from 'Why bother washing that paint" to wow that looks clean multiple times. Far from an expert, but its probably where ive focused my efforts the most. Swirls drive me nuts.
