What did you do today, in regards to detailing?

If you'd like, maybe chime in on my thread for ADS Quartz from time to time with your experience. I'm sure you noticed the difference in flash times between regular Quartz and PRO

I'll update over there. Need to grab more pictures. I'm getting motivated to clean up the interior still.

And yes, Pro laid down first (kept to about 1-2mins flash) and then Quartz on top (took maybe 4-5mins to flash). Temps were under 40% humidity and high 70s. Done inside my garage.

Used this last summer on a buddy's car, it is a nice product. He has ULW on the car, so they did play well together.

Still raining so outside detailing is a no go

Vacuumed the front floor and mats if the Lexus, dusted the dash and console, and wiped the seats down with ADS Pilot and a Scrub Ninja followed by a dry MF towel, wiped the dash and console and doors with Pilot on the terry flip side of the Ninja followed by a dry MF

I am still not in love with the fragrance of Pilot but there is no denying it is possibly/probably the best alternative to a full blown P&S Express scrub down and a light interior wipe and dust, plus the Lexus interior materials love the finish it leaves, or doesn't leave, depending on your philosophical inclinations

I had our whole house water softener checked. The water was still supposedly in soft range but had seen mineral deposit in water. They replaced the orifices that control salt injection. Our well water quality varies a lot.
We have bore water or well water here at the house, what is the PPM

Yesterday I had the front seat out of my Foxbody to install a new wideband and decided to vacuum the carpet while it was wide open.

Just for fun, I decided to try the random orbital on the carpet to shake sand to the surface. I thought it was a gimmick, but it really worked. I used my orbital sander without a sanding disk.

So much sand came to the surface.

The car is 35yrs old and I don't have any floor mats, so not surprising.

Followed that up with a quick shampoo.

No pictures.

While my buddy Hectour installed my front and rear LED turn signal bulbs, as well as door panel accents, I decided to do a RW on his car

Now i brought my clear buckets to show off but in a rush forgot my IK Sprayer and grabbed ADS Clean instead of Hero, luckily he had Adam's RW and it got the job done

I also vac'd it out and used the leftover RW to clean the tires & wheels, ADS Ghost is loving his Hankook's, TAC System Water Flow beading like its new

Just spent most of the morning doing most of the remaining interior cleaning on the 4Runner

I think it looks really nice for a 17 year old vehicle that spent all but about 3 months outdoors 24/7/365

IMG_6786 (1).jpegIMG_6785 (1).jpeg

Except

Now the seats look dingy compared to the rest of it

I’ve decided I’m going to eat $385 and replace the windshield

It’s cracked top to bottom and side to side in about 37 places

The boss figures it will sell better

I’m torn on doing a one step correction on the paint or selling it as is

Did the exterior of this truck. The owner has a maintenance routine better than most but wanted a good wash and some paint decon. It sits outside 24/7 and the roof and hood were pretty rough before claying and there was a fair amount of embedded iron.

An older gentleman brought his 2012 CRV to me. He tried to clean his headlights on his own and made a bit of a mess but most of the damage was undone and I was able to polish out the scuffs he made in the paint below the headlights.

That interior looks like new, other than the driver's seat. What was your secret?

Was he trying to un-yellow them or something? What did he use to scuff them up like that? What did you polish them with to bring them back?

On a positive note, my daughter in law texted me and was asking about products to keep the interior of the little blue Lexus as clean as it was when they picked it up

I gave her a very short simplified list of products with links to a local car parts store

I am gratified to see she might possibly treat it better than her previous ride

Having them destroy it and me having to see it at their house almost kept me from selling it to them

I agree with your boss lol.

You could bust around that thing in very little time i bet with some 3d speed and a couple passes just to add some gloss. Remember people see shine not scratches lol

He wasn’t very clear. All he said was a buffing pad and pulled out his phone to look it up. He didn’t show me but I’m going to assume it was one of those store kits with sanding and polishing pads and the sanding discs are probably the source. I just did the usual wet sanding with 800-3000 grit sandpaper and then compounding and polishing. He thought he was going to need a new set of headlights but he should easily but with proper care they should outlive the vehicle.

I figured you would be recommending 3D AAT 505 correction glaze
