Acronym decoder

Hi as a newbie I am often at a loss when reading a post that is laced with acronyms. I understand that it is definitely a time saver not to have to type out the entire name of a product or a procedure. For us newbies, at times, it feels like being lost in a foreign land and not being able to speak the language. Don't get me wrong. I would be the first one to say that if a person wants to live in this country he/she should learn to speak the language. So therefor I also would say that a person who is interested in the art of auto detailing as either a profession or a hobby should learn the vernacular as well. To this end I have a suggestion for AG and its I.T. person. Why not create some sort of decoder that a reader can get the definition of a particular acronym by simply highlighting and left clicking it. I think it will enable everyone to get the full benefit of what is being written as well as enabling everyone to get up to speed in learning the lingo. As it stands right now I often find myself unable to find a particular acronym listed on a chart that was posted by other well meaning members. If a decoder isn't a viable solution at this time perhaps there can be a sticky created establishing a definative list of acronyms and there meaning. Just a thought from a newbie. Thanks

Thanks for the correction. In fact the chart that I referred to in my post was the one created by Sparkie. I didn't know that it was already categorized as a sticky. The plot deepens I to am curious as to what is in the PM....to be continued

Well, I know of two people who have reviewed my acronym excel document. No one else has said anything about it. :( :confused: :( :awman: :cry: :dunno:

Well I was the lucky one who got a PM from SRXTX and I must say that what Stephan has accomplished with an excel spread sheet is remarkable. as it is to large a file to post on the forum. I think it would be great if Stephan could creat a webpage for it and provide a link to all members on the forum so they can view it and help add content to it. What he has created is an excel spread sheet of all the acronyms for the different products. To this he has included a description of the product, the part number and it's link to autogeek. This spread sheet will serve as a great tool for all of us on the forun. THANK YOU Stephan for the good work that you are doing!!!!:dblthumb2::urtheman::applause:

I've even thought about adding another colum to it. I just will not add it until down the road. :xyxthumbs: Ryan, I just hope you liked it. Im the MAN It will be another two to three days before I tuch it again. I have that lil Honda Accord to handle. LOL :props:

Received the spreadsheet from Stephen and the first thing I must say is :thankyousign: and the second thing is :goodjob2:

I can readily see this being quite useful while browsing the forum and also would make shopping easier since one can sort by Type; eg, Spray Wax, Quick Detail.

Not sure if you can do this, but it would be slick if you could embed this in a web-page; then it would be just one browser tab over from AG's tab! Plus, it would be readily accessible by everyone and people won't be constantly pm'ing you for the last version of the spreadsheet.

I think what some of us would like to see is this:

This is from Autopia, which I think AG sponsors. Maybe they could help with this if you decided to go this route.

I know it sure would be nice to see a mini-info box with a link to the AG store when you mouseover an acronym.

Stephen's spreadsheet would aid in this tremendously for your web tech.

Some people probably wouldn't like that, but there should ne a way to turn it off in the User CP.
