Im going to be ordering a DA buffer. Im not sure what kit yet and I hear everyone rec the Groits is their a big differance between that and the PC? thanks in advance

I have a Megs and my roomate has a PC. I have used both and I personally like the Megs... because its mine haha just kidding... but I feel there is less vibration in the handles and machine. Other than that they work equally as well. I dont know if that helps
Peace
Jon

Go with the griots. I hear it works real nice and has more power. I have the old PC and plan on getting a griots, to go with my flex 3401

The Griot Garage is alot more power full the the PC. The Griot Garage is more like the Flex DA but smaller more compact and easier to use. It is powerfull enougth to power a 6'' pad with is pretty impressive for a DA. Since you are knew to a DA I would recommand the Pinnacle Advance Swirl Remover, Pinnacle Advance Polish, and Pinnacle Liquid Souveran (I believe that is on of the kits) or Wolfgnag 3.0 TSR, Wolfgang 3.0 Finishing glaze, and Wolfgang 3.0 Paint Sealant. These are great kit to start off and learn with. Both kits work very well and are very easy to use.

I wouldn't compare it to the flex. The flex has forced rotation and more orbital rotations. The orbital path on the griots is 9mm vs. 8mm on the flex. The flex has 3ft more cord alsoa nd a 10 amp motor compared to griots 7 amp motor.

GRIOTS Features:
More Powerful 7-Amp, 850-Watt Motor
2,500 - 6,800 Orbits Per Minute
Variable Speed, Wider RPM Range
Wider 5/16" orbit pattern for faster and better results
Ergonomic Adjustable Handle
More Torque, Better Performance
Longer 10 Foot Power Cord
Backing plate included

FLEX features:
Maximum polishing pad diameter 160 mm or 6.3 inches
10 amp motor
Velcro pad 150 mm or 5.9 inches
Speed without load 160-480 rpm
Orbit (stroke length) 8 mm or 0.31 inches
Orbit rate, without load 3200-9600 rpm
Power input 900 Watt
Power output 590 Watt
Weight 2.60 kg or 5.73
13ft power cord

I have the PC, u can't go wrong with any of those Polishers, just read the spics. for wire size per feet of extion cord. Don't want to burn up that motor.

well good thing i have till sunday to make up my mind ha ha this site always has me thinking of whats next

tims04gto,

I was in the same boat a week ago. I got the PC XP to save some money but wish I would have went with the flex after doing my car. I'm relative new but have done a lot of research and called product manufacturers to make sure I'm using the right techniques as well as watching the how too's etc.

I was going to send my PC back for the Flex 3401 one and just bite the bullet. However, I decided to keep it for putting on wax and orderd the Flex Lightweight Rotary as I have about the same amout of money in it and the PC as I would just the 3401.

It's interesting about the Griots, I may try to exchange mine for it. One complaint I have about the PC it is vibrates a tremendous amout and seems to be tough on pads. Well at least I went through a pad on my car and asked AG about it and what I was told.

Keep in mind I'm just starting out as well so take it with a grain of salt.

hmm all this information..... i have been using a rotary now with no problem but i like to be on the safe side and use a DA. Maybe i will just keep saving and go with the flex......

Get the rotary and we will get you going.:props:

^Definately. I was going to follow the Flex 3401 route but am now strongly considering a rotary. Its not too much harder and as long as you aren't overly aggressive or careless, is not as unsafe as it is made out to be sometimes.

If you go for the Griots get the HD one. Which has the 25ft power cable that way you will not need an extension cord

The PC will stall a lot more easily than the Griot's. The Flex is the ultimate but a lot more expensive. If you just detail your own cars and not doing it for a business I would go with the Griot's. The Flex IS incredible though. You will NOT stall it with the forced rotation.
