That there are new versions of Optimum Tire Shine and Optimum Metal Polish. Now a new version of the metal polish is fine, because I don't have any of that yet...but I recently bought a bottle of the Tire Shine, which I thought was an improved version already over the original...of which I have 2/3 of a bottle left...and it's winter so I'm not using any, so this is JUST REALLY UNFAIR.

Seriously though, how about you Optimum guys give us the lowdown on what's new/different with these and when we will be seeing them in the Autogeek store!

The new Optimum Tire Shine provides better sheen and protection for tires and trims as well as greater longevity.

I dunno .... you all ask for product improvements and when the manufacturer does so you complain you havent run out of the original or past version yet. (smiling)

How do you think the people are going to feel when they find out that was stuff added to the BOGO today is the old stuff?

Heck, I didn't even know it was on BOGO. Really, my problem is I'm trying to get down to 1 or 2 tire dressings as my "standards" and get off the dressing-of-the-month merrygoround. But I can never get to compare anything because by the time I get to using it it's already obsolete :(

If most people did this full time there would not be these odd ball complaints.

Thanks for the info!

No complaints here. Get the current version at a great BOGO deal or wait a little and get an improved version (at full price). It's like heads you win, tails you win.

Of course, we all have a whole closet of stuff that isn't used up. At least, it's better than computers, smart phones, and other technology ;)

Complaint? I was joking, hence the second paragraph starting "seriously though,". The purpose of the thread was to get some more information about these new products, but if you'd like to denigrate people who don't "do this full time", don't let me stop you.

Maybe Chris from OPT will chime in on these:

I will be trying the "New Formula" OPT Tire Shine on a couple of tires as soon as the snow will let up ;(

I hadn't posted the announcement here deliberately out of respect for AG. I didn't know their inventory situation and didn't want the new release to slow sales for them. Now that I see they have BOGO'd the current stock, I don't mind talking about the new Metal Polish and Tire Shine. The MP cuts faster and finishes better. It is less viscous and is blue in color to distinguish it. The TS has more gloss and much better durability. The TS still drys well and doesn't sling. Let me know if you have any more specific questions and I will certainly try to answer them. BTW I am Chris@Optimum on other forums if that was confusing anyone.

hehe...

i love that optimum continually develops new stuff atop stuff that was already awesome. it's actually funny because i'm still using all first generation stuff across the board and have zero issues. i bought quite a bit when it became "obselete" and hence on sale, and will be using it for a while still. i have A LOT of various optimum gallon containers sitting around ; )

Honestly I'm not even worried about the new stuff, I'll take all the old stuff BOGO all day!!!
:xyxthumbs:

Since this came up in another thread...I struggled for a long time to really understand the difference between OTS and Opti-Bond. After trying a sample of the Opti-Bond I realized that it has a very shiny/wet look (for a water-based dressing) although it dries dry and doesn't even feel greasy when you get the product on your hands. I'm not sure it lasts much longer than other good water-based dressings--but maybe. That compares to the more matte/new-tire look of OTS.

So, if the new OTS is glossier and more durable...what is the distinction between it and Opti-Bond?

Some prefer a liquid and some a gel. There are only subtle differences in results. Both look great, don't sling and dry to the touch.

My problem with product updates is that whenever I see a "New and Improved" product, the original version on my shelf instantly goes bad!

J/K! I do look forward to seeing reviews of the new Optimum, but I'm already over-stocked on Opti-bond and DP Gloss Tire Gel. Those BOGO's got me... twice...

Here is hoping that you let us know how the newest metal polish works. I have not tried the original version but may pick this version up to give it a try.

I tried the Tire shine for myself today and it has more gloss that OptiBond, I like it very much...darkens the rubber very much and still very natural looking. I sprayed (trigger sprayer) the tire and brushed it on, spreads easy and drys level.
