what did everyone think of Obama's speech?

I LOVE Obama. Mainly because of his health care plans. It really hits home with me. My dad has MS and I have Crohn's disease. Luckily my dad's company health insurance is covering me for the time being but even with great health insurance between me and my dad we pay $10,000 a year just in deductibles. I'm in college right now so hopefully when I graduate I can get a job somewhere that has good health benefits. If I applied for my own individual health insurance, even though I'm 22 and in over all good health but I have Crohn's so no insurance would cover me. If they would they would say "Yeah we will cover you, for $10,000 a month!" Now me and my dad are not free loaders by a long shot. Never been on food stamps, welfare or unemployment. I'm not saying there's anything bad about those things for people who NEED them but so many people take advantage of that. My dad put himself through college and has paid taxes his whole life. My dad is only 51 but he will have to quit work within the next year due to not being able to move his body because of his MS. When he has to quit his job, he will no longer have health insurance. So he will be a roughly 55 year old male that has worked his whole life paying taxes, NOT taking advantage of government programs because he believes they should be reserved for people who really need them. Yet he will have NOOO health insurance. And no health insurance is going to cover him. I know to people who are in relatively good health think any kind of government health insurance is socialist but how is it fair that people like me and my dad don't get health insurance just because we have MS and Crohn's? It's not something we did to ourselves, we were born with it. I'm sure if someone who is against government health care works their a$$ off every day but don't have great health benefits had a kid (god forbid) that was severely deformed or has some terrible health problem they would lose EVERYTHING they had TRYING to pay the hospital bills. Mind you, no insurance company would cover them because of their pre-existing condition that their child was just born with. I think some people need to at least try to look at it someone who is in a position like me and my dad. I don't agree with everything Obama does but just because of his healthcare views, he is A-OK in my book. HEALTH CARE IS A HUMAN RIGHT!
 
Yea but what you don't see is his health care bill is gonna let all of the old people die so the government doesn't have to pay all of their social security and other stuff. The government will choose who gets care and who doesn't. Read the bill carefully. And now we have to pay 4% tax if we sell our house because of the bill even if we use it for another house. It's ignorant. And stupid. We need to take the government back over while there is still a chance. Otherwise were going to be yesterday's China.
 
It was a good speech for Obama for those who actually listened especially since many of his proposals came from the Republicans.

But shouldn't everyone be responsible for their own bills? If you are so sick, and I'm healthy, that means I'll be paying for your health insurance, but WHY? I have co-workers who are willing to sell their soul to the devil, as long as he takes care of their healthcare. America is capitalist, not socialist. If your health is bad, that's YOUR PROBLEM.
 
When 51% of the public is on government assistance, social programs, we no longer have a democracy...

One expample would be car insurance. For those that are trouble makers - constant claims, accidents, tickets and so on high insurance rate. WHY? Because you are a trouble maker...if you don't have accidents, tickets, and even claims your insurance rates are VERY LOW... I've been with Allstate 10 years ago...all of a sudden they started to raise their rates "because they have too many claims and not making any money"...guess what? I switched to another insurance company who respect claim/accident/ticket free drivers and give different rates...I told Allstate, if someone is a trouble maker - raise their rates...and if they CANNOT AFFORD it, that's not my problem, work it out with them...

He cannot afford healthcare bills, but can sure afford to spend over $1000 on damn baseball tickets, and wants me to pay for his healthcare? We are grown up adults. America is capitalist, not socialist. If your health is bad, that's not my problem. I am sorry, for being an a$$hole, but I just hate a few co-workers of my own who want to take advantage of the system...Again, I feel see a lot of dindongs and ho-hos taking advantage of this, and on money they saves - they get another mark of the beast - a tattoo...I think tattoos should be taxed like a property tax, every fricken year...

My opinion?

I wish we could move the election up one year and get rid of him now.

Here is how I measure his value (or lack of it) to the country.

Whenever he gives a speech I split screen my TV. Obama on one side and the stock market chart on the other.
This morning the market started up. Then Obama started talking, and the market chart fell off a cliff. From a nice little up to a loss (so far) of 155 points.

And this has been the case every time he open his mouth.

It's because more and more people are quiting their jobs because of his frikkin plan to "fix" America. With all of the money that he has spent on the "fix", he could have given each working American family around $100,000 that they have to spend on an American made car, put it down on a house, or a start a new business that will stay in AMERICA. He has no common sense. I thought his speech was hilarious when he said "My Muslim Faith." The reporter had to correct him. I have nothing against anybody's religion, but come on people. He is an all around terrible speaker without a script. That should have said enough about him being our President.

Capital Hill has a lot of old school self serving politicians that want to make a career out of doing nothing for the American people. Flush them for more progressive ideas and thinkers.

Term Limits of 8-10 years max Senators and Reps would fix a lot of the dread lock on the Hill and bring the power back to the people.

Letting big business ship off jobs to the Far East to generate further profits/big bonuses for upper management doesn't help local jobs and our economy.

Toss the lobbyists out on the street would be a good start.

hate to mix politics with pleasure (ag forum) but i actually pray daily that obama will be a one term disaster. we have 3 children and 6 grands that will have to pay the price for what this guy has done to our country.

Yeah, George W Bush took that title from Jimmy .... Err Ah ... That's right according to D#%$ Cheney's book Bush wasn't President, Cheney was and Bush was only a figure head to stand in front of the people. Maybe that explains why Bush took so many days off?

A significant percentage of these people are getting social security and medicare benefits they contributed towards so not the best statistic.

First off, I strongly believe this is not the place for this conversation. AGO IS S FORUM ABOUT DETAILING/CLEANING VEHICLES. However, since AG is ALLOWING this thread, here's my two cents.

HE WIN BE RE-ELECTED IN 2012!!! EITHER PRODUCE A BETTER CANDIDATE OR DEAL WITH IT!!!

And as far as his production or lack there of, according to some of you all. Look at it this way...cause this is the way I see it.

A customer brings you a vehicle which was previously "detailed" by another detailer. After a wash, clay, and paint inspection, you notice swirls, holograms, and marring on the paint. Now in order to correct "His" (the previous guy) mistakes, you and I all know things are going to get worse before they can get better (ie. Wet sanding, compounding, polishing the vehicles). Bottom line, IT TAKES TIME TO CORRECT PRIOR MISTAKES!!!
