woah that thing is badass lol...I use the power fusion

i use to use the power fusion but got tired of buying refills as they are expensive! you can buy a safety razor for under $40 and it will last you a lifetime and double edge blades are only like a few bucks a pack and only cost around $.50 each or less (buy in bulk you'll save money and i get around 4-5 shaves per blade, but it will differ from person to person). the one thing i like about the safety razor (think of a safe version of a straight razor) is it cuts clean (you can hear it slicing the hairs off) and there is no tug and pull like you would get with multi bladed razors (remember, it only takes one sharp blade to cut) which causes tug and pull/in grown hairs. heck, my fourteen year old nephew uses one now lol. buy one of these and you'll never look back (save lot's of money too), not to mention it's more satisfying shaving with one of these over an electric shaver and/or multi bladed razors...

Power Fusion, I pretty much don't even change the blades LOL. Only shave under my chin and a little clean-up around the edges. Even with the old blades I shave relatively fast and reckless with no real bad tugging or any ingrown hair problems, must have soft hair and tough skin LOL.

Funny thing though, I have a brand new in box Merkur 337c or "Slant Bar" with original sample blade in a drawer, It's been around as long as I can remember and don't know where it came from. I figured it was expensive but never thought much about using it. I had to go find it as soon as I saw your pic. The head is slightly angled, with a quick Google search I found a description "337C in order to reduce the resistance of the skin during shaving, the head is made at an angle." Definitely going to try it out soon! I will be be sure to use a light touch keeping consistent pressure and be aware of the angle, as advised on a Badger & Blade "Merkur Slant Bar" forum post. Kind of looking forward to it. :)

I'm using the Fusion Proglide. It's not bad but the replacement razors are expensive! I have wicked sensitive skin. I may have to try this safety razor thing.

But nothing is better than the good ol' hunting knife and some soap! lol

B&B, when I saw your first post I didn't know whether to crap mysself or bust out laughing; that's hardcore. Now I'm gonna have to watch Crocodile Dundee, haven't seen it in years.

BigAl3 ...

I would recommend tryind some of the red Persona blades with your Merkur.
From my experience they are superior and you can get them at Lees Razors.

I looked at the link for the razors. I like how the blades are MADE IN ISRAEL, but then PACKAGED IN MEXICO.

That has to be a really sucky job.

Yes, and they are pretty serious about it over there !!!

I'm using a Merkur 23C double edge with Derby blades and The Real Shaving Co. shaving gel. :dblthumb2:

I use the Braun 7-790CC. It is an electric but does an amazing job and gets nearly as close if not the same as as a regular razor. It is pricey but if you do the math it saves money over the long term.

I will definitely try it out. Yeah the refills for the fusion are ridiculously priced. Thank for the info.

There is a learning curve with the double edge razor, but it works very well and is much gentler on your face.
The key is prep just like the surface of a car!
You need to use a pre-shave oil or product followed by a shaving soap or creme applied with a nice brush and some hot water.
