My son has his first gig tonight!

Thought I would share this with my forum friends...

My son who turned 12 on Valentines Day, has his first gig tonight. He's lead singer and one of the lead guitar players in his rock band class and the band is playing for a birthday party tonight.

I can't even begin to share how proud I am of him...

These pictures were taken last year at one of our Detailing 101 Classes where he was actually showing others how to machine polish and he was also responsible for most of the pictures taken at the class. He's very good at machine polishing and a very good photographer and a Straight-A student.

Congratulations Mike. I know how proud you must be. You can't put a price on things like this. I know you had him use a Meg's/Fender guitar kit on that Ibanez. LOL. We will expect a youtube video posted soon on this first gig.

Congratulations to you and your son Mike! I hope he has a great time!

That is great Mike and a lot of fun for both of you.
He is lucky to have a supporting father that embraces his passion.

They definitely aren't timid or shy. Thats quite a list to tackle right out of the gate for a first gig. :dblthumb2:

Welcome to the oldest roadie club Mike I started lugging around my sons equipment when he was 12 and started playing the Bass . From there I can only tell you it gets even harder on us . Now he plays Bass / Lead Guitar and drums also does music engineering . Like you I was and still so proud of him . Heres a picture of some of his equipment

This is awesome Mike, being a parent myself, I know how proud you must be! Chip off the old block :xyxthumbs:

Awesome Mike. Maybe we can have him play at Detail Fest 2012

That's awesome Mike! I hope he's learning how to play classic rock tunes from the 70s and 80s!

I agree!

Learning to play guitar is a great accomplishment... learning how to walk up to the mic, look out at the crowd and start singing is going to give him a lot of self-confidence for anything he decides to pursue...

My son turns 10 this year and he just started taking guitar lessons. I'm impressed by how much he has learned in such a short time. Right now he is working on Crazy Train with his teacher.
The coolest thing about his interest in music (especially guitar) is that he likes the classic rock songs that I listened to growing up. We can have an in depth conversation about music that most adults can't follow.

Wow!! Congrats Mike and to your really talented son!

Wish a great future for him! :D

Congratulations Mike!

Being a father I can personally understand the inner pride when your child has accomplishments....:props:

Bravo young fella!! :dblthumb2:

Congrats to you and your son Mike. He seems to be a talented young man. Kind of a chip of the ole block.

Very cool! As they say in show biz " break a leg"

Sounds like it's a big weekend for the Phillips family... your son with his first gig, you with the first episode of "What's in the Garage," your wife getting to brag to her girlfriends about the rockstars she lives with.....

:props:
