I'll start...

This is the second boat I've owned, it's a 1967 Starline Deville, I purchased it from a classic car dealer who purchased it at an Estate Sale in Southern, California. It's incredibly original and runs really well. I believe I'm technically the 3rd owner.

When I first brought it home, the hull was literally white in places due to oxidation, so just for fun I buffed it out using a variety of different products and pads which you can see in this thread,

As I type this, my boat is actually outside in the parking lot as I've been getting it ready to go fishing!


My first boat I owned for 20 years. I bought the hull when I was 21, had a 402 Big Block Chevy engine built by Tim Briggs and installed by the time I was 23 and raced it for the first time that year.

I'd like to purchase another V-Drive drag boat in the future, my favorite is the Sanger Runner Bottom, Bubble Deck models.

Here's the last one I had, no pictures of the first one. It is a Sea Ray Pachanga powered by a 350ci Olds and a Berkely jet. It wasn't super fast by any means but with the deep V hull it would run 55MPH through almost any slop and pull multiple adult slalom skiers up in a wink.
This is a stock photo but it is exactly like the old squirtboat. With the high freeboard and transom it was a blast dropping the reverse gate around 50mph and standing on the throttle. It would stop dead in about 2-3 boat lengths. The name of the boat was Fantasy Island.

It was, and still is, a unique design especially for conservative Sea Ray. I miss a lot of the memories tied up with it but no, I wouldn't want it today. 30 gallon fuel capacity was good for a couple of hours at best for one thing. Secondly, down here in the TX coastal flats it would run aground every time you went out. Tunnel boats for the shallows rule down here.
Running 50mph+ in 8" of water is commonplace but it takes a specialized rig to do so.

That boat of your Mike brings back some long forgotten very happy memories of boating and fishing with my grandpa, his was blue but otherwise a mirror image of yours.

Not my actual boat, but mine is still under the tarps for winter. I hope to get it out and try some marine products on it, its got a lot of oxidation. but then again it is a 40 year old boat.
