Traded my Beloved XLR in today on a new Audi A5 Cabriolet. Mrs OT has MS and Fibro Myalga and the XLR just wasnt comfortable anymore for her. love her too much to trade her in and not sure I could handle a new model. I like the A5 better too. Much more room and I dontt look into w a windshield top pillar. Color is Quartz Gray or something. I have missed my old ragtops and now I have one again. Anyone know what to expect from 2011 Audi paint? I suspect it is hard but dont know. TIA!

Congrats on the new ride Jim! Yeah, its hard but manageable. Like most Europeans, you have to beat them into submission. French cars give up pretty easy but those Audi's can be tenacious. You are gonna love it!

thanks Ed! I got ceramic on the Ford. I am glad it is hard clear. It seems to be a very well built machine. The most expensive 2.0 L powered car I ever bought. AWD seeems awesome and an 8 speed transmission. We will take her into the hills tomorrow with the top down!

Congrats Jim! Best of luck with the new ride. I hope Mrs OT enjoys it as much as you will.

As a 2008 A6 owner all I can say is YUM!!! If the paint is like mine - HARD

edit: M105 with cyan works great

Jim,

Congratulations! My 2011 S4 is also Quartz Gray and the clear is pretty hard. Our Q5 is similiar as well, but I have never had too much of a problem polishing either one.

Wow Jim... Sorry to hear of you loss buddy (I know how much you loved her). However there is no better reason to have done it, I also know how much you love Mrs. OT...:props:
Congrats on the new ride, also a VERY sweet ride!!!

An Auburn fan and now an Audi owner...A5 at that...You're after my heart!
The car: Unless there are a lot of them on the road up there, you will get comments and stares ALL the time. My A5 is over two years old, 34,000 miles, and just today I had a guy tell me he loved it. The running lights are uber-cool, and to me there is still no other newer car on the road that can compare with the styling. I just love it. Very good choice.
The paint: I don't know about the cabri, but with mine, it is SO easy to polish...meaning, you don't have a lot of taping to do. There's basically paint and glass - very easy. Again, I think you will love it....but, obviously, I'm a little biased!

Congrats on the new ride. Audi paint is mostly hard clear coat, the one exception i have found is the clear on the black seems softer.

Congrats on the Audi.

There is something about an Audi, it's just so lovely to drive and so lovely to ride in. Sold and well built, being in one is a pleasure and seems to always have a feel of high quality German engineering about everything in it. I know you're gonna love it!!!

Post some pics when you can :dblthumb2:
