Hi guys, I wanted to let you guys know things are changing a bit for me. First I want to say that this community has been extremely supportive, generous, and kind to me in many ways and I sincerely want to thank each one of you for that. I’ve made some great friends and really appreciate each of their friendships. As you all know I love to test products and write reviews as much as I like to detail cars. For me this has been a wonderful hobby.

However the more time I put into it and the more I got back from it the more I felt a responsibility to provide updates and reviews sometimes even when I might have preferred a break. I began to start thinking about how I might turn it into a small business where I could be compensated for the time invested. But how could there be any kind of business model for writing reviews that people write for free and what company would pay you to write an honest review when they can pay someone to just write the high points of their product. Another challenge would be that one of the main reasons people enjoy my reviews is that I am not being paid which helps them trust that I am being honest. For awhile this fact deterred me from doing anything about it but as a couple companies contacted me I decided it was something I wanted and I shouldn’t worry about what others think. As long as I have faith in my honesty that’s all that matters. Anyone else may or may not judge my actions and that is more that understandable. It reminds me of a quote “Be who you are and say what you feel, because those who mind don’t matter, and those who matter don't mind”. There is truth to that although I also think it’s important to keep an open mind. You never know when you might be wrong.

That brings us to today and I’ll try to get to the point. I decided to walk through this “open door”. I’ll be walking a fine line but I have and will make it a point to tell companies I work with the following. I will continue to be honest in my reviews and while I may be right or wrong on a point I will state what I believe to be the case.

Anyway, I’m going to cut this short now because it’s not my intent to try to promote anything on here. I just thought it was very important that I tell everyone that has treated me so well and often times trusted me what was going on. Just to be clear I’ve never been paid for a review before. There was a period of time I wouldn't even accept the product that was to be reviewed from a manufacturer without paying for it. Moving forward from today I will be paid for some reviews. This is still a hobby for me and something I love, so when I find a product I love or I just feel like writing a review I will do so for fun.

As far as how it affects anyone who follows my reviews the only changes should be as follows. I will have more communication with the manufacturers of some products and I may post reviews of more than 1 product from a specific line in succession. If you ever feel like a review is pulling punches or have any concern please don’t hesitate to state your thoughts.

Thank you for all your kindness and support,
Corey

Congrats on getting to this point and seeing the open door that you have been led to! I am one who don't mind... I have found your reviews very informative (even if I haven't replied to many of them)

Corey your informative wisdom and thought process is a very valuable resource and I feel that what you are doing is merited... Good luck in the ventures! :dblthumb2:

Corey,

I think this is a positive step forward for you. At your current rate purchasing and reviewing products, it simply is not sustainable for the amount of time and effort it takes. I realize how much time it takes to make a review at your caliber because I have tried a few, and the write ups alone can be 4+ hours not including the extra work exiting video, and taking all of the shots.

I think it is only reasonable that you try to monetize this process, and frankly I would do the same thing if I were in your place. I am only surprised that the manufacturers took so long to contact you given the quality of your reviews. Heck you must have sold at least a dozen MBs in the past few months. Many companies are starting to realize that community/blogger/forum poster reviews are some of the best exposure out there.

I look forward to seeing more reviews from you, and hopefully some exciting less-known products that deserve some exposure. Knowing you well, I don't think for a minute that you will not still call it like it is, not like you are quitting your day job or anything. I have never been upset with a product I purchased based on your reviews, and always been able to observe similar results.

Let me know if there is anything I can help you with in developing your reviews. I expect there will be a few people who are upset by this, but they would probably be upset over anything given the chance.

Nothing wrong with that, as long as your reviews stay fairly objective. I would hope any good company paying you would expect to know what a consumer thinks about their products, unbiased...at least, any company that actually cares about their customers.:xyxthumbs:

When a hobby begins to consume more and more time and especially when businesses or manufacture profits from your time and effort it's time to share in those benefits..

For years now I tell people the same thing; "If you don't want the truth don't ask me the question".

Good decision Corey!! :props:

Corey, your reviews have always been worth reading and have led me to purchase quite a few products including a few that will be at my doorstep this afternoon. Your hobby of doing thorough reviews has really helped the detailing community in knowing exactly what they are getting when they purchase here. Congrats on the opportunity to turn your hobby into a profitable one. You have worked hard for it and I'm sure your reviews will continue to be honest and informative.

BTW...I like the website, but what is the nanotech leather coating you offer? I have used UIGP for leather protection for a while now, and it would be great to offer an even better level of protection.

Corey, your reviews are a hit, because you tell it exactly as you see it....both good and bad

When I read reviews that only hit on the postive aspects of a product, it makes it hard for me to believe anything else that person says

Stay true to thineself my ##### and good luck

Yours truly,

Flash

Best of luck to you my friend! Honestly though, with the time your full time job requires I have not clue how you find time to provide outstanding reviews? I trust that you will continue to lead this community (detailers in general) down an honest path. And though there may be times that someone will cast "the almighty dollar" will buy a good review statement, I don't see you as one to be swayed. One last thing about getting compensated for your hard work, it's about time! :props:

Congratulations Corey! :props:

I have no doubt that your reviews will continue to be honest and very helpful. It is logical that you should get some kind of compensation for all your hard work.

I have bought many products based on your reviews and been very happy with them, UPGW, UTTG, UWWP and currently I am looking to buy UIGP. Already had UPGP and loved it.

You are going to love UIGP :dblthumb2:

Corey,

Because of your reviews and opinions, I've been able to gain that knowledge, and its because of guys like you that has given me the confidence to begin my own journey. I applaud, thank, and congratulate you on your new venture. I wish you luck and I will be on the look out for your product reviews.

congrats Corey!

Your reviews have been both informative and inspiring to me. I've only done a couple simple tests and know how much work and organization go into them.

I have no doubt that the quality and objectivity we've all come to expect from you won't change one bit with this new development.

Corey, the fact that you took the time to disclose this is a positive. You could have kept it to yourself and no one would have really known. As long as you don't feel pressure to be biased, enjoy your new venture. I don't know you well but from what I've seen you are a stand up guy

I've enjoyed your reviews on different products and it's helped me decide on trying a product or not.

I think anyone who has seen your reviews would agree your making a wise choice and congrats sir!

Congrats Corey.

And like the saying goes....if your good at something, never do it for free.

Corey, Good Luck in your new venture. Your reviews have been most informative. Just keep telling it like it is. Will you mention in your future reviews whether you have a financial arrangement with the manufacturer. You know, like they do on the financial channels

Corey -
I have marveled at the quality and the effort you put forth on your reviews numerous times. I found them to be accurate, reliable, in-depth and honest.

I for one do not expect that to change based on the good fortune you are now presented with.

Being honest for reviews means the person will present the facts as they see them and let others draw their own conclusions based on the reliability of the information provided.

In my mind, a person is either honest or they are not.

As you seem to like quotes here is one of my favorites that fits this situation:
The time is always right to do what is right. ~Martin Luther King, Jr.

Do the right thing and we'll all be axiously awaiting your next excellent and HONEST review, just like we do now. :dblthumb2:

Doing something you love AND getting paid for it. THAT is a little slice of heaven. Good luck Corey and I wish you all the best!

Wow Corey, that's great news to hear! I look forward to any review you ever do regardless of difference in opinion!
