Winter Detailing In The Garage...

So as I continue to think ahead for the winter time, I am looking to get some ONR to maintain my car during the winter months. Someone recommended getting those hand pump chemical sprayers to rinse the car with water. What other tools to you guys use to maintain your vehicle in the garage?
 
I prefer a 32 oz spray bottle of ONR solution at detail spray strength to pre-soak the car with. Its small, easier, and its enough to do a car a few times over. You have more control with a spray bottle, I have found.

I also have a propane heater element that mounts right on top of an ordinary 5 gallon outdoor grill propane tank. Heats up very fast to make working in the cold easier. Of course you have to take precautions when using this (no kids, pets around, etc).

I can wash right down to about 30 degrees without any issues.
 
Yeah I found an electric heater that seems to be pretty good. I will pick that up probably in November or when if it gets cold before.

If you are going to use a propane heater in a garage you need to be concerned about CO (carbon monoxide). Be sure to have window open in the garage or have the door cracked open. If you are working in an attached garage, the CO will go into the house. It has no odor so you can't depend on that.
 
I'm revisiting this thread as I am still searching for a good heater. I picked up this electric heater and it didn't do a good job at all:

Lasko® Ceramic Tower Heater - Bed Bath & Beyond

I am alittle concered about using propane heaters as I don't have any windows in the garage and I don't want to have to worry about carbon monoxide in the garage or going in the house.

Any other suggestions?

Do you have a electrical pannel in your garage you could run a 220v outlet from?
 
Mr heater has propane that has automatic low oxygen shut off that is designed for tents, garages, etc. Mr. Heater - America's Most Popular Portable Heaters

Propane will heat it up much faster. Electric will take a long time. Once warm electric will maintain heat.

You could even use one that DOESN'T have automatic low oxygen shut off To get warm - (just crack garage door) and then shutoff propane and maintain with electric heater.
 
Hmmm...that looks interesting....I'd have to look into these alittle more.

Anyone use a kerosene heater?
 
Propane is the way to go. I have one of the long cylinder looking ones and it is awesome.
 
I've used those Mr.Heater ones that connect right on top of a propane heater. I've never died from it :)

THANK GOD you never died! LMAO!!! Do they give off any odor?
 
if i was going to use anything that uses a flame to make heat i would have a co/co2 alarm showing ppm levels while using it just to be safe, would not be cool to hear "man detailing his car died of CO poisoning"
 
I use kerosene. I can wash in the garage down to 10 degrees (outside temp). You have to light it and extinguish it outside or by a door though cuz it gives off strong odor if not. It's not dangerous , just smells bad. I put in a vanilla additive so the smell is not to bad. Kerosene can get a little pricey. I'm a weekend warrior as far as detailing so I don't use much.

I know right?! I'd get one if I get a kerosene heater. I'm trying to determine which one should I be worried about more...kerosene or propane.
