Semi-formal Review of XMT 360 Spray Wax

I love Meg's Express Synthetic Spray Wax (Ultimate Quick Wax), but I went and ordered some of this Pinnacle XMT spray wax to see if the hype is justified. I'll be looking not for just the "look", but how it applies and works in every possible weather/humidity scenario. I have not (yet) found anything that compares to UQW in the combination of looks, flexibility and ease of use that it has in every condition, and yes that means applying it in 25 degrees after a wash without issues of any kind.

AG should give you some free refills of the XMT spray wax...as your review opened my otherwise closed wallet when it comes to spending on alternatives to UQW.

Looking forward to the XMT review pics to see if it pushes me into getting a BOGO this week before it expires...

I also love UQW. Re: cold weather application, works well in my 38 degree garage. But I once used it outside in the same temperature but with some wind. It froze, crystallized on my car and was impossible to apply. Had to pull into the garage out of the wind which solved the problem.

I've found that there are so many spray waxes that are highly recommended that I use price as a determining factor.

While I appreciate the review and I have tried these MFT's, I have found that 100% cloth diapers (24" x 24") doubled up are the best for washing/drying....not only in terms of price/longevity but the paint feels like it's been polished each time. FYI- the diapers must be flat fold (meaning no seams) and washed 3 times (typically) to ensure softness and absorbsion.

I have also found that flannel (100% cotton) outperforms the microfiber wax removal towels consistently- cheaper, better, last longer, gives a much better shine/result

unorthodox approach to detailing...very interesting.

Actually it is old school. Prior to microfiber towels this is the way it was done. The downside? It does mar the surface which can be seen under direct sunlight.

Have you used another brand of spray wax to compare to?

Very nice review Alex!! Your TSX looks shiny indeed. Does your neighbor notice a difference between her paint and yours?

Nice review - I also got this on BOGO, based on the various reviews that have come out, and yours just reinforces my conviction that I made the right decision

Just one point I'd like to clarify though:

You used a third of the bottle (around 4 oz) for one application?!? Isn't that a bit... well, too much? I usually do just one to two sprays a panel, and use about a third to half an ounce per car.

You indeed made the right decision. I think I may have estimated my usage amount wrong. I probably used about 3 ounces but yes I did use a lot. I know I used more than I should have and have to adjust on the next go around.
Thanks for the review. Makes me glad i took advantage of the BOGO this week. Mine should be here Wed., if the wheather would cooperate maybe i will get to use it..
Thanks again
Doug

I’m glad you took advantage of the BOGO. I’ve been so amazed by this stuff I called Nick yesterday and got the BOGO as well. I want to pick up some of the Blackfire spray sealant to see how it compares. If it doesn’t, I will get the 64 or 128oz of the XMT 360 Spray Wax.

You’re going to have to let me know how that goes…maybe post your own review of it with those different factors. Like I stated earlier, the rear of the car was exposed to the cold air more than the other parts of the vehicle, but it still applied very well. You’re going to love this stuff. All I wanted to do yesterday was go outside and look at my car all day. Last night I was at the gas station and man oh man the car looked so wet under gas station lights at night.

Get it…if you don’t like it, you can give em to me. :D I haven’t used UQW but I may check it out once I am out of the XMT, which won’t be for awhile since I got the BOGO yesterday.

Thanks man! I'm sure she noticed yesterday (as it was my first day back at my house). She was home when I got home but left out. Her car looked very dull compared to mine. She once jokingly asked me to NOT wash my car so her car could look clean. She said she details her car as well...and for the most part her car is clean every once in awhile. I sent her the link to AG and AGO so maybe she'll join up one of these days.

Wow for real?! That blows my mind.

I have not...I didn't believe in spray waxes, but when I got it in the goodie bag I was like ok...I'll give it a shot. Then when all the reviews started rollin in I was like I HAVE to try this stuff out. And man I'm so glad I got this stuff in the goodie bag. Its an instant classic for me.

ok- show me the "marring" on this original oem paint! It is a daily driver too! That's the difference between old school & new marketing hype literature.....until you have "worked" on paint as sensitive as lacquer (which I have both sprayed, repaired & detailed for both daily drivers & show vehicles), well, are operating off of myths, rumors & misnomers.

I tried this stuff last weekend and I have to say man I do like it alot. Thanks for your review and I agree NOW is the time to get it. The new formula wash is very nice too.

do you guys think this stuff is twice as good as D156 or OCW cause it's double the price by the gallon...

Man I love this stuff. I'm going to post some beading shots later today. I walked out of the house this morning and saw the nice beads on my car.

I have not used any other spray wax prior to the XMT 360. I just looked at the OCW and yeah...its definitely cheaper. Can't beat the bogo though...try it out for yourself. One thing I wish I hadn't waited on is the 50% on BF. I should have gotten the BF spray sealant. Then I'd have something to compare to. But I will pick some of it up when the "big" sale comes around for Christmas.

Here are some nice rain bead shots...

that's how i look at it too. since aquawax is cheaper, so after UQW i'd buy and try that next.

but that acura sure is glossy and looks fabulous and alex got it at a great price :)

Beading looks nice!

Thank you sir!!! I love this stuff.

I've been watching the water beads dance on my hood today...talk about distracted driving. I love it when its been raining and my hood has beads of rain all over it...when I pull off its like a wall of water just coming towards me. And when I stop...it all glides off the hood.

As someone who has never used a spray wax before, I was expecting this stuff to just wash off. Nope...it didn't. After I got done riding around today the majority of the car was dry and it still looked amazing.

From that photo no one on this planet could show you any marks in the paint. Photos of horridly marked surfaces can be taken that show a perfect finish but I'm NOT saying this is the case here. Lacquer is tender I agree but outdated by decades and no longer used in production cars. I have worked on it and frankly I'm glad it's a thing of the past. In my experience diapers and cotton towels do mark the surface with tiny scratches. Perhaps what I used back then were not 100% cotton items which is why they performed poorly. Low quality microfiber towels will do the same which I also learned the hard way some years ago.

You stick with what works for you and I'll stick with what works for me.

Nice review. Although I have used XMT 360 in the past and ended up giving it away. It was just an "ok" product for me. Maybe they changed the formula since two years ago. At that time, 360 caused some minimal streaking, and slickness was average. As far as looks, it didn't really add anything new to the paint surface or existing LSPs.

Since then, I have moved on to better spray detailers/waxes/sealants such as OCW, FK425, Red Mist, and Hybrid V7.

Thanks! From your description of the previous product, they must have really changed the formula because it definitely adds alot over Collinite 915 and Swissvax Concorso. Its been raining, pretty much, all week, and the car looks like it sat inside all week. Definitely adds a nice deep gloss and slicker surface to it. I want to try the Blackfire Spray Sealant, as well as OCW. I'm really liking Optimum products.

I first read your review when you posted it and I was able to resist buying the product...

until today. It was buy one, get one free so it looks like I'll have it for a while.

My only other spray wax has been Meguire's ultimate quick spray wax. That stuff smells great but I have never thought it did anything more than a QD seemed to do for gloss.

My only other wax is a paste wax, so I have been looking for a third easy option. Hope the 360 fits the bill. Excited to get the order (have to hit $50 on every order just for a free sample). Also have some Collinite 845 coming at the same time.

I'm glad you were able to take advantage of the BOGO *reminder...AG does NOT pay me to say all this (hhmmm maybe they should LOL)* But no seriosly...I am STILL amazed at how great this stuff is. It rained all week and the car still looks amazing. I park in the parking garage at work and when I was walking away, the lights bouncing off of it looked AMAZING! Good thing you took advantage of the BOGO since its getting ready to change. Its been on BOGO for the past two weeks. I called Nick up this past Monday and took advantage of this on BOGO. It arrived at my fiance's house yesterday....can't wait to get home.

I've heard ALOT of good things about Collinite 845. I applied 915 as my LSP via machine. But you're going to be amazed at the XMT 360.
