Blackfire Crystal Seal - The 11 Minute Paint Sealant

Hi all, do you recommend using BF Crystal Seal on aluminum wheels with factory clear coat? The Volvo S60 is about 2 months young.

Also, about how long will the BF Crystal Seal protect the wheels?

And, about how long would Collinite 845 protect the wheels? (I saw that idea on quite a few threads.)

I'd appreciate any advice! Thanks.

You can use Blackfire Crystal Seal on all wheel finishes. Collinite 845 makes for a more durable wheel sealant, but Crystal Seal is much less time consuming to apply.

Thanks for the reply re: Crystal Seal on the wheels, Nick. So I have an idea when to reapply the product on the wheels, do you know about how long the BF Crystal Seal will protect the wheels?

And, the same question about how long the Collinite 845 will protect the wheels. Trying to decide which way to go....

Thanks, again! This new hobby is a blast! :thankyousign:

One application of Crystal Seal on your wheels should yield 2-3 months of protection, but because the product is so easy to use and so little is required, I generally apply a coat after every other wash.

If you apply two coats of Collinite 845 to your wheels you can easily expect 5-6 months of protection.

Nick, good idea about frequent application...I watched a video of the BF crystal seal, and it is really fast and easy to apply -- and it looks great! I think I'll use the BF Crystal seal during all but the winter (Northeast), when I'll apply the collonite in the late fall to last longer thru the winter.

I also like that you pointed out that I can cheat and use the same product for headlights/tailights, wheels, and the paint. I'm already in hot water for sinking $400 plus into this new hobby in less than 2 weeks -- with a wish list over $200! ;)

Will CG V7 work on rims too o.O?
Since i got a gallon of those bad boys to waste....

It's not cheating when the product works just as good if not better than other products designed solely for one intended use. ;)

V7 works on wheels, but it won't be as quick to apply as Crystal Seal. :dblthumb2:

So... do u spray on the wheels directly or towel?

If you have wheels with an intricate design, spray directly onto the applicator of choice and then apply. If the wheels feature large, wide spokes, spray directly onto the wheel.

Man... anything that sprays out i use a hell lot...
i could finish a sonax 16oz in 1 car wash

Spraying a wheel cleaner on heavily soiled wheels is a lot different than spraying a hyper-concentrated spray sealant on squeaky clean paint. :dblthumb2:

I don't believe this has been mentioned yet:
But why does it take so long (11 minutes) to "Crystal Seal" a vehicle?

I betcha I know someone who wouldn't waste so much time:

Bob The Bear ohhhh how crack me up!
For the record I can UPGP my truck in 9 minutes!! JK

What most folks forget is that with the use of 90% of all the polishes, waxes and sealants that "super slick" feel is lost after the first wash.. This goes for OS, UPGP 134 and AW
In the summer with full heat I couldn't get more than a week or either of these products as theybwould oxidize off or the paint enhancers would fade off and not look as hard as when freshly applied ... Not a bad thing as it has some protection but the super slick feel is something that's not expected to last IMO

just used this on my 2012 edge sport, this stuff is awesome...

on windows does this stuff become as good as an water repealant?

I haven't used this particular product yet, but I do use a similar WOWA product, Opti-Seal, on my windows - and yes, it takes the place of a rain repellant for me. Only thing to look out for is that the usual glass cleaners (which typically contain IPA) will degrade the sealant, so in their stead, I use a QD (I've found Poorboy's Spray and Wipe to streak the least among the ones I've tried on glass).
