how long do you keep your vehicles?

wow you people keep your cars for a long time.

I basically sell a car when its worth nearly what i owe on it, then i get something new. I also dump money into whatever car im driving at the time. Be it detailing supplies, or wheels or exhaust or whatever else i feel like doing, im always spending more money on cars.

I've had my 90 ranger for 10 years. My dad passed it on to me when he died. He had it about 5 years. My wife had a 92 Saturn SC for 13 years

We've had our 98 Volvo for 6 years and bought our 96 SVT Cobra last July. I plan on keeping it forever or if finances permit use it as a gateway to a Shelby Stang.

I usually replace a vehicle around 2 to 3 years. I think my record is about 14 months.

In general I keep them for 10 years or more, less is they begin to show signs of constant repair...

Bought New

1999 Dodge Dakota - 87,205
2004 Z06 Corvette - 16, 587

My 91 SE-R I bought new when I was 18, I still have it. My daily driver is an 06 RSX which I haven't had a drop of trouble with, so I would be a fool to get rid of it.

I keep my dailey drivers until they hit around 250,000 and I have had my 92 5.0 Mustang coupe since the mid 1990's

I lease daily driver for three years. After that, I either am bored or the technology has updated so I want a new car. The corvette is a purchase and we will keep it a while.

Usually 10 years around 110K miles. My 97 Dakota only has 90K.

Wow, I think I need a new car, I seem to drive them until they turn to dust. Here is my current fleet of junk, all bought new and all still on the road.
'89 F250 Odometer stopped at 259,000
'92 Bronco 162,000
'03 Suburban 188,000
'03 Honda CRV 201,000
'05 Honda CRV 186,000
Since I drove the Bronco then the Suburban, it looks like I buy every ten years, which means I am due.

Oh yeah, and a '64 Econoline getting a ground up restore (not the one I use for my avatar)

When I was younger I used to buy cars every year or two, but it just doesn't give me the thrill anymore.

we're retired so we don't put many miles on the cars. We sold my wife's eleven year old Mercury Voyager van a few years ago. It only had 44,000 miles on it. Driven by a little, old lady to the grocery store and back.
2006 Chevy Equinox - 23K (will keep it for ten years)
2005 Dodge Dakota - 35K (probably replace it within two years)
2010 Mustang GT - 11K (may keep it forever)

97 Chevy Cavalier Sedan 4AT-~4 years
05 Honda Civic Sedan SE 4AT-3 years
08 Acura TSX Base 5AT-2 years, 7 months
11 Acura RDX SH-AWD 5AT-2 years, 5 months
12 Acura TSX SE 6MT-3.5 months and (happily) counting

Main vehicles, 2003 F-150 Super Crew - bought new in Dec 2003 - 55K on it now.
Wifes: 2008 Passat - 20K now bought new - she will have atleast 10 more years.
Third vehicles: had two many to count until last August when I got my Mustang.

+/- 2 years. I always get the itch for something new. Ah the benefit of short term leases

98 Saturn SL2 98-03
03 Saturn Ion3 coupe 03-08

I bought this Subaru WRX last month and hopefully going this thursday to trade it for a 12 Mustang GT cause I hate this car.

Jacob,

This would have been a great topic for a poll....:props:

The past 10 years or so it's been any where from 2 to 6 years.

I keep vehicles as long as I can keep them running and still get parts for them.
1992 Ford Explorer, bought new.
2002 Toyota Corolla CE, bought from neighbors estate sale.
2003 Ford Cobra, bought new.
Plus a bunch of motorcycles, starting with a 1977 Kawasaki Z-1, bought new.

Anyone else on here still have a vehicle that they bought new 35 years ago?
