what is you favorite tire dressing.

Meguiars Hot Shine Tire Foam. 2 in 1. Perfect for waterless washes.

I agreed w/ Richy. The tires gotta be clean. My choice of tire cleaners are Zep Purple 1:1 (I have 5 gal container for my personal use :) and Amazing Roll off. They both do an excellent job of clean craps off the tires.

@Richy...My airgun is on the way. We'll see how your method works :)

Right on!!! I really want to hear how it works for you. You will have to play with the settings on it to get it into a fine mist, but once you've got that, you're golden.

Dear Friends

I tried only three dressings in the past fifteen years:

  • Armor All foam spray — reportedly improved since I used it, was crappola (wore off and left tires brown and purple)
  • Meguiar's Endurance High-Gloss — great, long-lasting, very shiny
  • Opti-Bond — my favorite so far. Apply twice for very shiny look, once for more of a deep-black look.

By the way, if you have tires about the size of the stock ones on our new Odyssey, you most definitely want to part with US$13 for a Tire Dress Express tire dressing applicator. Once that big applicator is primed, you can dress four tires in four minutes. It's awesome.

Wheel Wax Extreme Black. It leaves a nice matte finish that doesn't attract dirt and it doesn't sling off. Durability is also good.

Opti bond applied by optimum spray at 40 psi
PERL (waiting to try it with the spray gun)

Wanted to try this.. is it water or solvent based?Feed back please

If you are talking about hyper dressing I believe it's water based. That's why you can dilute it to your liking.

As of right now, my favorites are both the tire dressings from Griot's:dblthumb2: but I do have the BF tire gel on its way in my order and looking forward to seeing how it matches up! Griot's has an all weather tire dressing that comes out black and leaves the tires with a matte finish and really holds up over time, especially when you apply 2 coats over 2 days to get things rolling. After that, when you wash your car, using a seperate towel, wipe down the tire and it leaves the tire looking new. I also use the applicator to just re-freshen things from time to time too.

I knew that...I wanted to know if Wheel Wax was water based or solvent based.

I haven't settled on one yet. :(

Honorable mentions in order:

- Opti-Bond
- CG VRP2
- Swissvax Pneu
- Blackfire or DP Tire Gel (they perform the same to me)

Zaino Z-16 (as easy as it gets)
Optimum Opti-Bond Gel (very good)
TUF SHINE (for durability)
Ultima Tire & Trim Guard Plus (expensive for tires but good)

Megs Endurance Tire Shine. Lasts a good amount of time and gets my tires shiny, I like em shiny!!

If I want something more subtle, usually for clients tires, I go for PB Bolt and Bright

I've used Megs Endurance and it lasted well but slung. I liked using Megs (the black spray can stuff). It lasted and didnt sling that bad but was messy to apply because of the aerosol. I've been using DP Gel and it works well. Still slings and lasts a descent amount of time. I liked the aerosol the best out of the three but the value wasnt there and I didnt like having to clean my rims twice (before and after application).
