Hey all, Back again. I just bought this clay bar kit from Wallyworld and was wondering if its a good kit. As of now I wash my car weekly so I don't have a lot of debris clinging to the clear coat but I figured it would be a good idea to purchase it since I wash my car under a large tree. I figure I'll clay twice a year, once in the fall after all of the trees loose their leaves and once in the spring after all of the trees bud.

Back to the main question, is this a good kit? It includes 2 clay bars, detailing spray and a microfiber cloth.

It's a good kit, just use a gracious amount of clay lube so you don't inflict marring.

It is a good product and a good deal.

Mothers makes some outstanding products and their clay kit is among them....:props:

I agree. Easy to work with. Good price. Not to mention the cinnamon scent of Showtime, which I love.

Do you guys heat up the mothers clay before use?

Depends on the outside temperature. If the weather is cool, may run the clay under some warm water for awhile to make it more plaiable.

If it is cold out put it in a baggie in your front pants pocket. The temp of your junk warms it up just right

I'm a newbie and got the kit, first time I ever used clay and it worked great.

I like the kits towel especially. Quality towel. Now the one that came with the meguiars kit, not so much.

Thanks for all the replies, I also use the Turtle Wax Ice wash and synthetic wax but it doesn't seem to protect very well, just good for shine. I was going to purchase meguiars wash and wax.

Good to know, this is going to be my first time using a clay bar.

Will you continue to use over the counter products or will you try to step it up a bit on both quality and durability?

If your going to stay with OTC wax/sealant look for liquid glass. Great look and super durability. I used to use it until I found AG.

Well I just used it, worked quite well. After rinsing the car down I flattened the clay bar, using one hand to find gunk on the clear coat, the other to apply pressure to the clay bar as I dragged it up and down across the surface. Got most of it off but I need to wait for the temps to drop into the low 70s to successfully get the rest

It's a good kit. The clay works well and it comes with a nice towel. Quick detailer smells great. I just wish they included a little box to keep the clay in after you use it, but that might be asking for too much lol

I'll most likely upgrade to a better quality liquid wax thats lasts longer than the ICE which is lasting me about 2 1/2 weeks. I'm not too worried about a better quality soap since I wash once every 1 or 2 weeks. The gunk & grime really doesn't stay on the car long enough to damage anything.

I'll be buying some Mothers water spot remover for the windows, I noticed today they've got a lot of minerals baked onto the passenger and driver door windows.

I didn't use the quick detailer, it was way too hot out yesterday. It would've dried up before I got the chance to run clay over it.

What did you use as a lubricant for the clay if you didn't use the included Showtime Instant Detailer?
