I bought something from a forum member on ANOTHER web forum. I sent the money in advance ($275) after a dozen pm's. Everything seemed right and the member was a

"senior" member with alot of posts. I never bought anything this way. He said he had only "one" of the item I purchased but I later found he had sold the same item to someone

else last month. He acknowledged payment and said he would get it out a week ago. I replied and asked for shipping info when he got it. Never heard back. Pm'd him and

nothing. What now? I don't want to air this out on the OTHER forum yet. Feed back please

Paypal??? Can you file a claim?

Yes. It was Pay pal. Maybe I can. I used Paypal twice now. The first time my debit card got

jacked and was sent to fraud dept(all claims approved money back:xyxthumbs:) That was a year

ago. So now I use it and this happens. Not their fault just rotten luck!

If he hasn't replied in over a week, I would call him out on the forum. Good luck.

If you know he only had one, and he sold it already, I would say call him out. It should at least get your money back if he cares about his reputation on the forums.

Chet,

I hate hearing stories like this because this just ain't right at all!

Since you did use PayPal file a report with them, here's a link that should get the ball rolling....right over his sorry ass...

Thanks guys. Its nice to be around "friend's "

I would dispute this with Paypal. Sorry to hear about this, but I am not surprised. It is hard to trust people on the internet.

If all else fails, post this on the other forum.

Sucks getting ripped off. I've been ripped off twice but not from detailing forums. File a claim and don't wait too long to do it.

Not being a lawyer here, but I have taken a Business law class.
The seller made offer, you made acceptance which is basically a contract. However the seller commited some form of fraud or scam as he or she tried to hide or cover up the items properties. I think that with cases like these, the person who pays in full gets the item, however I would definately report the person to the forum moderators and ask pay pal to freeze the sale considering that the person lied

Call him out on the forum. A week is long enough. Give him say, by tomorrow or the day after tomorrow before you contact paypal.

I would definitely bring it up in the forum and see what his defense is. Other members would be grateful for the heads up . I know I would.

See if you can file a police report as well at your local district. This is mail fraud as well as a few other violations. Personally, I have zero tolerance for faceless cowards and opportunists.

i had a problem similiar to yours and i told the guy i was fileing a report with his local police after finding his contact info and all of sudden there was a check in the mail

But that guy in blast! He could be ripping off other people! And like everyone said, hit up PayPal and straighten this out

I'm giving him until this evening to respond. Then I will pm and e-mail with my intentions of pay pal claims and opening up on the public forum. This guy seems well known in the

other arena and that's what baffles me. It wasn't on a detailing forum but on a forum nonetheless. Forum's are generally comprised of ppl with the same passion for that

specific forum and you would think there would be a code of honor there at least. I just wanted some forum users opinions on this. I honestly belong to three forums and the

other two are kind of linked so ....One more question...How can paypal freeze the payment? I'm pretty paypal illiterate. Wouldn't the seller already have taken the money?

Recently I had Pay Pal open an investigation on me! I only use it maybe 4 times a year. It was a legitimate purchase and I was the buyer. I have no idea why the did it. But they freezed both a accounts, buyers and sellers, until we both responded to this letter they sent out with a code. Keep in mind neither party complained or had any issue. It was a strait forward EBay transaction. It's resolved now, but PayPal seems to take fraud seriously.

Paypal usually does not free up funds for a couple of days, but at this point he probably has it in his bank account. That said, you should absolutely file a report with Paypal and let them handle it before doing anything on the forum. Going through Paypal will avoid any future harassment through the forum. Paypal does not take this kind of stuff lightly. Make sure you also message him through paypal so you have a record of trying to contact him.

Sounds like this guy needs an old fashioned Detroit beat down! Good luck Chet, keep us posted!
