how come none of you guys use them?? i use it all my cars get it works great. The california auto spa one is great.

In all the How to's and articles no one uses them. Why??
 
Because I use a leaf blower and a waffle microfiber. A lot safer IMO.
 
i use a leaf blower too, but first get all the pools of water off the glass, roof, hood, than blow the water top down to the bottom of the car, than get a microfiber to dry, cotton towel for door jams, inside trunk lid, etc etc


the blade just makes things go so much faster.
 
there was a video where the water blade was tested. Not so good results.
 
I have always been afraid of using them. Even though its rubber and the car is clean... I dont know. Just something about it. Maybe I would spray some QD in front of the blade and that would make it not grab as much.

Using it on things like glass is a must because those water spot fast, so getting the water off is awesome. plus you dont have to drag a big wet towel all of the place, because its mostly dry you can just use a normal 16x16 with some QD.

Hmm, maybe ill give it a shot. What one do you recommend.
 
Leaf blower and a 16X16 drying towel is all I need.
 
its super soft rubber, i dont apply any pressure with use. I just dont see how it could effect the paint finish, even on something you just buffed.

it glides over any paint, glass, trim, etc etc
 
But when a piece of dirt or any particle gets trapped and swept along the paint, you'll be asking why you are straight line scratches.

Give it a new home in the garbage and get a Guzzler HD! :xyxthumbs:
 
well i wipe it clean after every pass, so i dont have that issue. and if you have dirt or anything left after a good wash n dry you didnt do your job.......


a lot of cars i do, the people, dont want perfect, they want wash, wax, interior, engine bay, etc etc and only want to pay so much. So corners are cut, time is not on your side.

these arent show cars or corvettes or anything special. More minivans, family sedans and the owners do not ever clean their own car. or even rinse it off when theres bird sh!t on it.

maybe a detailing bbusiness is not for you.... i would h8 to take my car to your shop.... just sayin...."cutting corners isnt a good thing." and it doesnt matter if they are driving a minivan or a POS.. if u treat their daily drivers like exotics... you'll have customers for life.

Go tell your customer u cut corners to save time.. see if they come back.

They do. have been for 4yrs. I tell them how much it will cost doing a solid, nice nice job and they dont want to pay that. Plus i dont really see the point.

why spend 15-20hrs on a paint correction that will sit outside, everyday 365 in chicago weather??

some choose to do it the right way, but those are guys with nicer cars. Also their clear coats will last way longer than the guys who want every little dam thing out. Theres only so much to take off, so i try to make it last.

one guy always looks at the other, nicer jobs i do and says if he had a nice car he'd get the same job. but he doesnt, and cant afford it. So why try to sell the $400 job when hes happy with my "corner cutting" $100 work???

your average guy can barely tell the difference.


this thread is going in a way different direction than i was hoping for.

I use a water blade in combination with my big boy guzzler. Never had any problems. Been using one for years. It's all about technique.

Anything you use on a car can cause damage if used improperly.
 
Rasky is that huge horizontal scratch from a water blade??? Or, you talking about the swirls?
 
I used to use one religiously but then I found ONR and other rinseless washes and that was that. If for some reason I had to go "old school" I'll be reaching for my Cali waterblade because I've never had an issue using it.

The large vertical scratch. Owner of this car came in for a major paint correction and the car was filled with lots of vertical scratches, this one being the worst of them. I found this odd so when he took delivery I asked him if he used a water blade and he said yes. Needless to say it's no longer being used by him. ;)

They are great for the glass but I will not risk using one on my car let alone my clients cars.

I feel the same way about car dusters too.

He was probably using one with a plastic handle and allowing it to drag on the car.
 
I have had issues just like Rasky had posted. From that point on, I use the blue shammy sold at Walmart, then blow all the water out of the creves, and then follow through with the guzzler.
