Been changing the oil in my gf's camry recently and the oil it uses is 0w-20 full synthetic. I went to autozone and bought the oil and it costs 8.99 a quart. Anyone know a better place to buy the oil cheaper?

Wal-Mart usually has the lowest prices unless its onsale. Best time to buy is when they do the 5 quart plus filter deals. For more specifics check out the Bob is the Oil Guy forums.

As yakky notes, Wal-Mart has 5 qt. jugs of Mobil 1 at usually $22-25. IIRC they finally have the 0W-20 in that jug. Plenty of other brands there too.

My Walmart has the 5qt jug for $29. But remember that it's cheaper than having to clean your engine out or repairing it.

Also 5W20 synthetic and 0W20 synthetic are interchangeable. The only difference is in extremely cold weather as in -25F. Five quart jug of Mobil1 @ Walmart is your best bet. Toyota filters are inexpensive at the dealer.

For my VQ35 engine swap, I needed transmission fluid and engine oil. I found a big difference in prices when I compared transmission fluid online v.s. retail stores. I bought a case online for a good price.

But I couldn't find big price differences online with engine oil. My local Discount Auto actually had Royal Purple oil on sale for less than most online stores. So I ended up buying locally. I think your best bet would be buying a case on sale or with a coupon.

Yep they have the lowest oil prices around here.

I splurge and get the Pennzoil Ultra for $26/5qt.

Not your Acura dealer $80 oil change. :(

Oil is cheap for standard cars. It's a simply DIY task if you have the time, if not you can go to an indy.

I don't want to hear people complaining about oil costs...lol

My engine takes 10w-60. No, that's not a typo.

You may ask, where can you get this? It's no available in stores, online only.

Only made by one manufacture, Castrol (well 2, but I don't trust the other one)

It costs $14.50 per liter, and I need 6. Include the oil filter, gasket, crush rings...etc, you end up around $100 in raw material.

Add on the fact that I change the oil ever 4000 miles. It's expensive.

Cliffs: Be happy your oil is cheap

This.

This. You can pick up 5qt jugs on the cheap.

I think costco sells different weights in cases, also sell 36 pack of microfibers that are really good

My dealer will change the oil and filter in my Fords for $29.95 for Motorcraft Synthetic Blend and a Motorcraft filter. That's as cheap as I can buy it.

It may not be fully synthetic but is great oil. I cracked my motor open at 145k and it was clean as a whistle.

Walmart had a 5 gallon jug of castrol edge titanium for 26.99. That's a steal. Costco and bjs have 6 qts of Mobil 1 for a little over 30 dollars I believe

I got a 5gal jug of Mobil1 5-20 at Meijer yesterday for $25. The only issue I had was that they didn't carry the oil filter for my Fusion. So back to Autozone.
The same oil at Autozone would have cost me $58, or almost double what I paid at Meijer! I need an extra quart because my car takes 6.
An OEM Motorcraft oil filter was around $6 at Autozone.

I have been getting my oil at Walmart, they always seem to have the best prices as much as I hate shopping there.
