So I'm browsing Craigslist with the search word "Auto Detailing" and I stumbled upon this job wanted posting. Tell me what you think :checkit:

"i would like to post out on the internet my bizzness i do audio installs and auto detailing i and a master audio junkie and im trying to make my bizz known alot of people bring there audio and cars to get done by people who say they know what there doing and they dont and on the down side you have to pay up the butt to get it done. well im here to say that i have been doing it for 15 years and i dont make you pay out the but to do it my rate is 10 an hour you buy your own stuff i put it in if theres anybody out there looking for a good nice and loud and clean car let me know at Insert Phone Number ask for sound play"

This is not a joke, and the last time I posted a link to the actual post I got some people mad. It is upsetting to see this because I actually post advertising my work and sure it may get me work when people see them and compare, but posting like this do as much harm as those detailers the undersell and perform shotty work. Oh well, so what do you think?Feed back please

Nice one... He may need more :help: than that though.

Thanks for the Facebook "Like" :thankyousign: I returned the favor. :xyxthumbs:

It takes all kinds of people to make the world go around! :)

Holy Heck. My field is education and I hate to see this. What is really sad - this type of ignorance is becoming the norm.

He should show some blurry pictures of his work. He might actually be really good.

whut can you say when doze guyz dat r out der alwaz hav runon sentacez dat never make any senze fur da rest ofus and day dunt no whut a punktuazatuion iz and day cant cee kapitul letters no matter whut.

Seriously, and we wonder why kids are having kids and the average reading age of a HS graduate is 5 years behind their age. OTOH, the dude probably knows how to install car stereo and might just as well be the guy behind the wall when you take your car in for a high dollar install. Jus' sayin'....

Teacher unions.....pat yourself on the back, good job, LOL! This is what happens when there's NO ACCOUNTABILITY!

This thread has made my day, thanks OP.

The fact that you are posting competing for the same job as this guy should concern you if this is the right career path...

There is a place in the world for the $19.95 detailing job.

It's to drive work our way.

I'm in the plumbing service trade...these people are doing the same thing in my trade. I am not influenced by them. I have a business to run and I know how much it costs to operate it. The customers that he is marketing to, if that's what you want to call them, are bottom feeders and you'll never satisfy a bottom feeder. There are plenty of great customers who will pay a professional person a professional wage.

Don I totally agree!

I was in the local Summit Racing store tonight talking with the sales guy about detailing. Well when I started to *try* and tell him about the differences between Megs 105/205 and how the Ultimate Compound/Polish were related, (just different amounts of oils etc). That lead to a breif wax discussion where I was explaining to him why some cost more than others based on the carnuba % (& fillers) when he just said "I don't care about expensive wax just as long as it's shiny I'm fine". This guy was all about "cheap".

OTOH, I was also at Discount Auto Parts today picking up a few things (they carry Groits now btw) when the guy there was asking me about how to get his paint slick, which was a round about way to ask me about 'claying'.
He then asked me if I'd detail his candy apple 76 Chevy lowrider & his 2011 triple black Challenger. Why??? Because I WAS NOT buying the cheapest products on the shelf.
:righton:

Great Job on picking up a new customer! I would call that a ZERO ACQUISITION COST Customer. :xyxthumbs:

In my business, I have to invest a lot of money to keep my name in front of the customer. Being in emergency service, if there is not a need for my service, the customer does not need me. I have to advertise constantly to let them know I'm the one they need when the need happens.

Trying to actually read this actually hurt because I had to translate on the fly.....Thanks Bill!

I have seen lots of ads on Craigslist for numerous services. If you are looking for a professional, reliable skilled trade, Craigslist is not the place to be looking... and, if you're a professional, Craigslist is not where you want to be advertising.
