Plan of attack for my black 2012 Tundra

Ok, well I will redo the area and save the Menz 4500 til I see what happens.

Like PapaSmurf suggested, make sure you prime the MF pad well. Use slow arm speed with light to moderate pressure. If you felt like the area you where working on wasnt that bad, use a less aggresive product instead. Using the finishing disc with D300 might of not let the compound fully break down. It would be like using M105 with a gray or red pad from LC, sure it might give you the compounds ability to cut, but might not finish to its best ability if that makes any sense.

While the MF system might not work for every paint type, then again no product on the market will work for "every" paint type I do think it can be done on your Toyota.

So go ahead and start with the d300/cutting pad and make a few passes then really prime the finishing pad and use the 301 til the haze goes away?

Yes start with the cutting pad and prime it THOROUGHLY like I told you with the D300. After you make the desired number of section passes it will become transparent so to say. Buff it off with a mf towel then get the finishing disk and properly prime it with the D301 just like you did with the D300. The d301 finishing wax wont haze away. You just apply it and buff it off. 4800 OPM is the desired setting for using the cutting compound and 3800 for the finishing wax. Looking forward to seeing your results.

I would try 205 or UP on a mf finishing disc. That also worked for me

I can pretty much promise you SF4500 will create the best gloss and optical clarity. If I had your truck come in with hazing, I would use SF4000 on a white pad.

If you have the time, a rotary and skill. Go and get a gold CCS and SF4500, then jewel the paint. The Gold jeweling pads are a lot different then the normal red/blue/black finishing pads.

This combination will remove any hazing (it works like a dream on my Mercs ceramiclear), this combination works on a DA too, just takes a little more time.

So if the D300/D301 doesnt work, switch up to the Menz,

PS do you have a clear coat? I know most non metallic paint toyotas dont have one. Wondering if that has changed.

I have the UDM so
OPM's for UD Machine
Speed Setting 1 - 2660 opm
Speed Setting 2 - 3950 opm
Speed Setting 3 - 4130 opm
Speed Setting 4 - 4900 opm
Speed Setting 5 - 5240 opm
Speed Setting 6 - 6540 opm
Looks like 4 for cut and 2 for finish?

Yes that would be correct :xyxthumbs:

Yes I have clear. Don't have a rotary, just UDM and LC CCS orange white and blue. And a little bit of 4500.

Tried the mf kit again and still not a good result. Three some 4500 on a blue CCS pad and looks great. Not in the sun but I will look tomorrow.View attachment 15022

Looks a TON better. That megs kit just must not like the clear on your Toyota. Black is also really hard to get perfect. Glad to hear that SF4500 cleared it up.

I have a 2012 Tacoma BLACK (202). I haven't use the sf4500, but I tried Wolfgang finishing glaze on a test spot and it almost took my breath! The clarity was amazing! So maybe Menz abrasives work good on non ceramic? Like Mike P. says "Every paint on every car can be different"

The sun was just low enough to where I couldn't get a natural view of the area. But the haze spot is gone. I do still see a few very very small scratches. I didn't work the 4500 long. All I have is the 5.5 size pad so I just squirted a few spritz of QD on the pad then fully covered the surface of the pad and quickly went over the area with light to no pressure. Just a little bit of dusting. I pray it looks good in the sun tomorrow.

If you have an iphone, theres a flashlight app you can download and use as a ghetto swirl finder light. I did that for a long time lol

Lol I will get the app right now. The swirl finder is one of many new things on my list.
