Running a Detailing Business For 3 Years

Hey All,

Just wanted to toss in a few words about running a detailing company :dblthumb2:

Year one :

I started with nothing but a vac, rotary, some biz cards, and a few products. Creating great customer service is what gave me great clients :dblthumb2:

Year 2 :

Knowledge from AG + quality work = a sustained clientele and the ability to perform above and beyond throughout the year! Thank you AG for that, and thank you to all that helped B & B grow personally in Middle TN.

Year 3 :

While I feel that I am an expert in detailing now through experience, be it auto, bus, rv, boat, and/or aircraft - I know that there is ALWAYS something more to learn and I will always be thankful to AG and Rely on AG at the same time to be there when I need a hand. After 1000's of autos, hundreds of buses/rvs, and thousands of aircraft - I still feel that AG has tons to offer.... and I thank all members for that! This will be a great year :dblthumb2:.

Really just wanted to give a shout out to all that have helped me from this site in the past couple of years - and I hope I have helped 3 fold compared to the info tossed my way! Thanks again AG brothers and sisters!

I'm starting year one myself full time... I have a few more products but I feel the same way Anthony. Here's to many, many, many prosperous years for you and I and everyone on AG

B&B Tennessee, props for always saying it how it is. Almost 18 years pro detailing & I still learn & am happy to do so. I'm nearly finished year one owning my own detailing shop after detailing for wages for 17 years, 14 of the for one company. Been having a blast so far & building a very strong reputation & a ever growing client list. Here's to a great 2013 for us detailers huh! :props: B&B Tennessee - love your work & your attitude too, keep them posts coming yeah? ProDetail - best of luck going it solo, keep the standard high & the rest will follow. :xyxthumbs:

Great work very happy for you and hope 2013 goes great and good luck.

I hope nothing but great things for you and your business. I hope I can learn some business tips from you if I ever go full time. Cheers :)

Awesome man, congrats on your success. Keep up the good work, and positive attitude you have!

Congrats on the success, keep up the good work!!

That's awesome! Keep it up. I'm on the verge of getting out of the business of working for others.

Be prepare for a but of struggle at first. I'm having a tough time on my own, but the lack of stress is more than worth the pay cut.

Way to go B&B, I hope to get to that point some day. It's good to see a detailer make it from just the basics needed for the job. I love this stuff and only wish I knew that there was a way to connect with other like minded folks sooner. I didn't know there was so many of us out there. I'll be turning 50 this year but am in shape and like physical work, so Lord willing, I'll be where you are 3 yrs. from now.

Thank you All! This first two years I concentrated solely on growth. Don't worry about money, only happy clients and B2B "contracts". The first 2 years was tough financially, even when we had 20,000 dollar months during peak season - but this year my goal is a 300,000 dollar year in Revenue! For those starting out, don't give up! And PLEASE, learn from me and don't pay for advertising - I must have wasted thousands on advertising! Word of mouth and quality work will get the advertising taken care of for you :dblthumb2: I just had a call today from a recommendation from a reg client - happens ALL the time now...... and will happen in the future. People told me not to pay for advertising, but I did anyway - and they were right :/

Good luck all and thank you for the kind words :dblthumb2:!

Ya I never advertise most of my business comes from word of mouth.

Very inspiring brother! Keep at it and keep the hard work up!

The biggest fear in this game is taking the initial plunge and being able to go out and find work for yourself everyday. With a good work ethic, good name, and good finished product..the rest takes care of itself.

I did have a question for you because it's always interesting to see what others do.

When you finish with a customer...what type of documentation do you use or do? Do you store their information someone where to call them back? Do you just wait for them to contact you back? Any maintenance programs?

And you're doing a tremendous job Anthony and are a top contributor on Autogeek with real life detailing knowledge with all the tips and tricks!! :props:

Congratulations!! :dblthumb2:

I agree.

There are people on forums that might have experience but Anthony takes his time, (and that has value), to type out detailed, coherent posts that help people, not just one-liners.

I have an app on my iPad that keeps track of their name, email phone, and what I did on their car. The is called CJournal coast $8 but worth it. Most of my customers have 2 or more cars and CJOurnal makes it easy. I send out an email twice a year to all my customers on the two deals I have.
