Review: BlackFire BlackICE... The wax you have been waiting for

Wow, I’m even more impressed now that you confirmed your E90 is Jet Black – a color I seem to only read challenging detailing issues about on BWM blogs. Mike, if you haven’t already done so I strongly encourage you to post a link your excellent review over on bimmerfest so others Jet Black owners can see your amazing results.

You gotta tell me how you keep your rims so clean? I’ve had decent results using Sonax Full effect/Iron x paste for cleaning and Collinite 845 as a LSP.

Sorry all, I don’t mean to hijack this tread but Mike is the man to learn from.

My Jet Black 07 e90 can be a nightmare to get it right. On the other hand my Jet Black 11 e91 is pretty normal.

I havent become a member of bimmerfest but I am on bimmerpost.

I have the factory dusty BMW pads and I keep them clean by wiping them down with a QD to keep them clean. This car isnt a DD and it sleeps in the garage most of the time.

I am thinking about taking them off and Opti Coating them though. I will make a thread on that when I do. :xyxthumbs:

Thank you for the kind words. I continually try to further myself to push the envelope.

Have your BMW buddies join here on AGO.

:)

Went out to my local BMWCCA for a get together and got a few more pictures to share with everyone.

Your BMW looks great. I like the looks of your tires but I would hate to clean them. Is that sun shade the one sold by Ag that is like $60-75?

Good job Mike.

Good job Mike.

Thank you sir. The tires are a pain sometimes as the top of them is inside the fender. This is the shade that is sold by AG. I didn't purchase from them but it is the same thing. Highly recommended.

Grass!!! What Grass!!! This is Vegas!!! My front yard doesn't even have grass. It's covered in rock! I only have a small patch of grass in my backyard. Lol.

Thanks!
 Never seen anything like that before. No grass...wow...that blows my mind. Boy the kids in my neighborhood would love that.

Would that mute metallic flake? I have a black metallic Aston and would love to try it, but I'm afraid the black wax would have some negative effect on the flake

John,

That I can not confirm as both of my BMW's are jet black. Maybe someone else can help out?

Hey Mike,

question; how come you went from a G110v2 to a GG6 (on your trunk)? I normally switch polishers only when I go from different size backing plates or switching from a compound to a polish or wax. also what tool did you use to clean your rims/wheels?

overall your results came out fantastic

Sir,

I used the G110v2 for the polishing step and a GG3 to apply the BlackICE. Fellow forum member parkerslade came by and helped with the detail and he was on the GG6 for the polishing step. Both of us were using the same pads.

I used the Daytona speed master wheel brush for the barrels and a Mothers wheel brush for the face.

Thank you for the comment. I just came back from another car show with over 2000 pictures and I'm whooped. I will get a thread together for this one as well.

Mike

Mike your car looks amazing, just stunning! Doing us BMW guys proud!

I hope you guys enjoyed my Review. :xyxthumbs:

Wow, Nothing like nice clean and shinny black car!

Newbie question. Why do you tape off certain sections? How do you know which sections to tape off or not?

Tape off trims due to product staining them. It's a pain to clean afterwards.

Thank you! To bad it's so hard to maintain it now to AGO standards here in Germany as I don't have a garage anymore. But I do have the autobahn....

Agreed. All the trim on my car is black plastic and if it hit with a pad and polish it will stain the trim white.

If you use liquid polish like Optimum Hyper Polish do you still need to tape the trims? Should you also tape off chrome trims?

Yes. Any time you use a polish you should tape off the black plastic trim to avoid staining. For chrome trim you don't really have to as chrome can be polished.

Hey Mike, I'm sorry I haven't commented sooner, but GREAT job on the review, as well as your results! I always enjoy your contributions, keep 'em up! Can't wait for the next!
