Hi everyone. I just did a test spot on my car using FG400 with Meguiar's MF cutting pad. Unfortunately, it was not able to take out all the scratches. Just wonder should I go more aggressive or more section passes?

Btw, when I hooked my PC 7424xp, the body/motor heats up even I am not using it. And when I put pressure while polishing (speed 5), it feels like it has no torque at all. This is my second time using it. And it doesn't feel like the first time which kept spinning even I put heavy pressure on it.

also afterward you can try bumping it down to speed 5 and finish it off with PF 2500 power finish. With a light cutting pad or a polishing white pad.

Put enough pressure where you are making the pad work but not too much where you make the pad not rotate. Go with speed 6 and do slow passes. Don't over do it, MF pads cut through the paint faster than a foam pad so caution when using them.

If your motor is heating up just having it plugged in and not using it then there's something electrically wrong inside the machine...

I had the same problem. I think you are instilling small scratches. Slow your speed down to 4, slow arm movement. Use least aggressive method. I was trying m101 and a mf pad. Nothing but marring. Switched to B&S finishing pad with m205. Worked beautiful. View attachment 18674View attachment 18675

:iagree: I use FG400 with MF pads all the time on speed 4-5 you do not need speed 6 you need to let the pad do all the work.

It may be my PC's problem. Anyway I am taking it to service center today. Hopefully can get it back soon. :(

I thought 101 and FG400 were designed for foam pads?

They are. That's another good point but I know people have good success on hard paints

If your not getting much corruption with FG400 and a MF cutting pad then there is something wrong with you machine?

How old is the polisher?

I guess it is something wrong with my polisher. It works fine until I put pressure on it to the paint. I bought it back it February. :(

But they only allow return in 30 days, isn't it?

Call and explain you situation and what is happening and see what they can do for you.

Might have to call tomorrow 10-4

They close up at 6 but you can give it a shot today.

:props: Thank you.

The polisher is clearly defective so I'm sure they will take the return for you, or they might try to just do an exchange or something, but either way they won't leave you out to dry. Report back with the results.

Alright, just called them and left a message today. Let's see how it works out.

When I was inspecting my car today (sun finally comes out), I found that there has some micromarrings on the test spot. Would finishing polish (M205/SF4500) take those out? I know it is better to work on the test spot but I currently don't have a polisher that is "safe" to use.
