Opti Coat details

Let's keep this thread on track - if you do not have anything nice to say don't say anything at all.

Great Work. Are you sure its Opti Coat and not the prep? Too me it looks like great Prep. Compound - Polish and great technique.

In any event, I would let you do my cars anytime.

Thank you! Yes prep is key, and as much as I like the way the finish looks before applying OC, it really adds a lot of gloss to the finish. If I put up before/after shots with all these cars, the thread would be way too long so I chose to just post the finished results and focus on this amazing product.

I helped out my friend Shane, from Aspire Detail on sunday. The 335 was done late saturday night, ready for Opti Coat. So early Sunday I finished it before I drove over to his house. We worked from 11-7. Rush back home to just have enough time to take a few pictures and put the license plates back on, before the owner showed up at 7:45

This 2014 Mazda 6 was swirled up pretty badly, but nothing we couldn't fix. Opti Coat was the choice of protection.

After all polishing, the car is ready for the last foam bath

I know what I'm doing to my Subie on the next long weekend I have! Thanks for the inspiration! What's the learning curve like with OC?

You are most welcome!

For the longest time, I have been using the supplied yellow applicators, but once I switched to the Cquarts applicator with the suede towels, I was hooked. If you use the foam applicator, make sure to wear rubber gloves (any kind) helps not dropping the applicator. Make sure the paint is cleaned properly and there is no oils left.on the paint. Saturate the pad enough initially. Do long strokes like top to bottom of the hood for example, - then go across to get en even coverage. With the non pro version of OC, you will have plenty of time so no need to worry about high spots. you can easily cover 2 or 3 panels before you have to go back to the first one to wipe off the left over. Have several MF towels ready to wipe off the high spots. Pay close attention to make sure that you are not transferring any of the OC to the next panel as you are wiping it off. Wipe over those areas as well. Don't try to wipe off high spots too early. Let it cure up to 5 minutes, but humidity and temperature can make application more tricky. If you have any specific questions, please ask. Have you seen any of the youtube instructional videos?

Try using close to 10cc of product for the paint to have a good amount to protect.

Thanks for the good info! I haven't seen the videos yet but I'll take a look later. And thanks for the 10cc tip!

That FRS looks sick! I'll crack into the videos tonight, thanks!

I provided for you 4 different application methods. No wrong way to do it, use what is most natural to you. Just make sure to have full coverage. You can layer Opti Coat as well, just wait 60 minutes between applications. No more than 3 layers though.

I think you just convinced me to try out Opti-Coat:xyxthumbs:

It is good stuff!

I now wish I had the owner put the camaro in the same spot as the RS5 after I took the pictures of the Audi. Maybe next time I am in Bend.
