I present to you my 2000 Pontiac Trans Am Firehawk. I got this car back in August 2011. I was in 9th grade when the 1998 redesign of the Firebird came out with the Trans Am getting the Corvette's LS1 engine. It was my dream car from the second I saw it. Once I got to a point in my life where I could afford one I started shopping, and found this one about 1.5 hours from me with only 58,xxx miles. I've washed it and waxed it since I've owned it but have never done a full correction and polish job.
Process:
Wheels / tires washed with soap and Megs APC.
Washed with CG Citrus Wash and Gloss high concentration.
Clay.
CG V34 on LC 5.5" orange flat pad, applied by PC
CG V36 on LC 5.5" white flat pad, applied by PC
CG V38 on LC 5.5" black flat pad, applied by PC.
Switched to:
Megs 101 on LC 5.5" orange flat pad, applied by 3401
Megs 205 on LC 5.5" white flat pad, applied by 3401
12% IPA wipedown.
CG Deep Reflections glaze
Dodo Juice Orange Crush, hand applied, 2 coats.
Tires dressed with Poorboys Bold N' Bright
Trim dressed with Poorboys Trim Restorer gel
Wheel wells dressed with CG Bare Bones.
The paint is super hard on this car. I was doing 2 sets of passes with the V34 before getting results I could live with. Once I switched to the Flex with the Megs polishes the process went so much faster. I didn't feel the need to go back over the panels done with the V-line polishes, it was about the same and I had put enough time into it already. Some pics...
Here it is after wash and clay:
I had trouble capturing swirl shots. Here is a part of the hood:
B-pillar
Tail lights also got a polishing
Spoiler. It was cloudy, these are the best swirls I could capture
Car was keyed before I got it, really bad actually. I put some touch up paint on it. One day I might have the fortitude to wet sand this
This is a front fender
Looks like a 50/50 on the quarter panel. I should have taken notes
Door
Same after 101/205
Before:
After:
Something else happened to this car, long semi-deep scrape on the quarter panel. I didn't remove this completely, but it blended pretty nice
Polished
After shot
Looking down on the top of the bumper. Car was also rear ended and the paint is spidered. To the right of my right of my finger is unpolished and to the left is polished.
Done polishing and waxing. Too dark and rainy to go out for pictures.
Nothing is manipulated in Photoshop, from the camera's memory card direct to the internet. Thanks for looking!
