I'm having a devil of a time getting these scuff marks out from a kick panel in my car. I have used APC+ 10:1 and 4:1 and been scrubbing religiously but can't seem to get rid of them.
Is there a better product out there for this purpose?
Cheers,
Allan
The Rim 7 is excellent stuff. It is acid free which I like. Make sure your wheels are dry before spraying it on. The instructions say leave on for 5 mins before rinsing, I'd give it a few more minutes. Two or three applications may well sort your issue.
Oh and BTW I tried claying on mine...
I just went through this same issue with my car when doing my first ever full detail. Like the OP, the front of the wheels were in good shape and easy but when I took the wheels off I was faced with 19 years worth of tar, brake dust, grime etc that was literally baked on the finish.
All told I...
Thanks!
The show is for Jaguar marque cars only. Everything from the 1930's to the present day. The various regional Jaguar clubs each hold an annual Concours d'Elegance and people campaign their cars for regional and national honours.
Cars like these and many others.

Good thread. I am a total newbie and have just completed a full color correction on my car for the very first time. All I had ever done to the car over the last 19 years was give her a wash and occasional wax. So I decided the old girl needed a makeover.
After about a month of reading...
Bob,
Thank you, that makes perfect sense. Your answer made me realize I had made the dangerous assumption that the sealant would bond to itself as I had read that many posters apply two coats.
So I called the tech support guys who confirmed that the second coat of sealant would NOT bond to...
I finished my first color correction and applied WGDGS. I have waited 24hrs for it to cure and want to apply a second coat.
I have noticed a good bit of dust on the car and was wondering if it would be ok to wipe down with a QD (ONR 16:1) before applying the second coat?
I'm just...
Thanks Mike!! Yes it makes perfect sense.
Just a follow-up question. When I apply the Souveran wax, is it better to apply by D/A machine with a very soft pad (Red or Gold) and low speed or by hand with a foam pad?
Thanks,
Allan
Hi Mike,
A complete newbie here, I've spent many hours reading your articles, looking at the videos and have learned so much. I have purchased my tools and supplies from AG and am ready to start a paint correction on my car and get it ready for a concours.
I have read many times about...
Thanks Don! Makes sense.
What I meant by excellent condition is that there are no scratches or pits in the chrome and no chips, cracks or yellowing in the lights.

Allan
I am getting ready to do a full detail on my car for an upcoming concours event.
Car is 94 Jaguar XJS and I will be using Wolfgang twins for correction followed by WGDGS and Souveran. Have GG6, GG3 and various Motherballs.
My questions are as follows.
1) What products will I need for chrome...
Ralph,
Thanks!! Yes it has been very reliable. The cars Jaguar produced between about 1994-97 were the best they ever made reliability wise. The AJ6 engine was for sure the most reliable.
It's personal choice of course, but I think the XJS conv is a very elegant car.
Cheers,
Allan
