No, the new 2.0 pads are different as the old ones just use Velcro attached/glued to the pad. The new ones have a special laminate with the Velcro. But it is at the edges of the cutting pad mostly where it looks like either shrinkage is occurring...
Simply put, I do not know as I have never tried it. Again, being a rotary user, I rarely use the DA for paint correction in the first place.
Hopefully someone that has tried both could chime in...???

I still encourage you to try and remove it first using a cleaner polish before turning to wet sanding or feather sanding. You may be surprised how easily the marring comes off of fresh paint.

Good point. As long as a wax or sealant is not used however, you are good to go until it cures. Meguiar's makes a product, M80 Speed Glaze which contains a paintable polymer and a cleaner. So it will help to protect that paint a little while the paint out gases and cures properly.

However, I would not wet sand that spot. Have you wet sanded a vehicle before? It is easy to wet sand but difficult to remove the sanding marks and tracers left from sanding process without a rotary polisher...
