Thank you for the kind words!! Thanks! I appreciate it. :) Your ///M looks GREAT! So how do you properly prime the pad with the PB SSR pair? For 2.5, I started with a brand new pad. I used XMT pad conditioner and put about 2 or 3 good sprays directly on the pad. Then a big X of 2.5...

    Ammonia to clean pads

Thanks! I do keep a pad per product, as I'm only using Power Lock and Natty's blue right now. But I don't like the buildup to sit on the pads... I guess I feel it would be better to start with a 'fresh' pad each time? So what product would you recommend to remove sealant from pads?

    Ammonia to clean pads

I have the same problem with Menzerna sealant in a red LC CCS pad and also I've got Natty's Blue in a red pad that I need to remove... I'm unsure what to use to get these things clean? Ammonia sounds harsh... and I'm unfamiliar with APC. What is that? Sorry for the rookie questions... Still...

Thanks! I've always been a fan of that extra length to get stuff clean. I think the next "length" I need to go to in my detailing arsenal is detailing the wheel wells... I never knew people did that until I came here. I also never realized what a difference it makes!!! Really completes a car...

My first "detail" w/lots-o-pics... :MS6 Content:

Thanks! The SSR 2.5 was nice, but I think either I overestimated its capabilities, or my technique isn't quite there yet, because it didn't remove as much of the swirls as I had hoped. And it dusted a LOT. Both the SSR 2.5 and 1 dusted a bunch. My car looked like it had snow on it when I was...

Thanks! I'm still learning, so hopefully my technique will improve along with my results. Thanks! I love the wheels too. Only problem is they're very hard to keep clean... I really need a proper wheel brush like the Daytona one... and brakes that don't dust so much! Thanks! Here's the...

My first "detail" w/lots-o-pics... :MS6 Content:

Hello AutoGeek! I lurk a lot and read a lot, but I don't post much. I finally mustered up the cash and got myself a proper detailing kit. It still has some stuff to be added, but it's a good start. PC 7424XP, LC orange, white, gray and red pads, PBW SSR 2.5 & 1, Menzerna Power Lock, XMT...

    noob looking for product recommendation...

I'm revisiting this thread as I am finally able to obtain some products to get started on that "show car shine" I'm looking for. I want to get some more input on a few product combinations I've looked into and see which one would be most recommended. As mentioned above, I've got Meg's 105/205...

    noob looking for product recommendation...

Thanks! I currently have no machine or pads. It's on my list of supplies to obtain in the future. :) Well... I do have a machine, but it's a random orbit wood sander, and I'm fairly sure it won't work. So I'm hoping to pick up a PC 7424 sometime soon. It might not be until spring, as the...

    noob looking for product recommendation...

I'm looking for some product recommendations for some scratches and swirls I've got. In my intro thread I posted a couple days ago, I mentioned this, but I was told this may be the more appropriate area for this question. I've gotten some pictures of some of the stuff I'm trying to get rid of...

Metabo SXE450 Duo: Will it work?

Thanks for the info, Mike. I'm thinking my machine won't do the trick... I have yet to test it on a vehicle, but just running it with no pad and lightly pressing it on any surface significantly slows the rotation down, and any more pressure will stop it completely... it seems like only a little...

Metabo SXE450 Duo: Will it work?

I recently was donated one of the above mentioned random orbit sanders... I'm wondering if it will work for minor paint correction and swirl removal? Here's some pictures. This picture shows the "duo" function... basically the orbit has 2 settings; one more aggressive than the other. Which...

Thanks everyone for the welcomes and the links and tips! When I get some pictures of what I'm trying to correct, I'll start a new thread in an appropriate section on the board. :xyxthumbs: I really wish I would've come across this forum years ago, as my last car was in some serious need of...

    New Mazdaspeed6 guy here

Troy- thanks for the suggestions. I'll try to get some close-ups here soon once the weather clears up... it's miserable here in central Ohio currently. Mainly what I'm trying to clear up are the swirls. It's a 2007, so it's not horrible, but they're there for sure. And there's some scratches...
