Is my flex SUPPOSED to get this hot?

Yep, David informed me to use the shims he's sending as well.

Is my flex SUPPOSED to get this hot?

    16g at 25' is good for 13 amps, not 10. 14 can handle 15.

Is my flex SUPPOSED to get this hot?

Just got a response from David at LC, he stated that the damage to my plate is consistent with what they've seen before. He is sending me a new kit with the updated design. I'll give this a shot along with lubricating the felt ring and see how that goes for me. I'll be sure to update this thread...

Is my flex SUPPOSED to get this hot?

Here is a photo of another LC plate with the same damage as mine. Perhaps this is an issue with the plate system as bigdaddy suggested, and not so much with the polisher itself. I actually haven't even considered that as an option, and haven't tried the OEM Flex backing plate since I didn't...

Is my flex SUPPOSED to get this hot?

I've used my Flex 3401 on approximately 4 cars. Over the course of these 4 cars, I've noticed that my Flex gets WAY hotter than I imagine it should. The first thing that happened was that I noticed it was spitting out bits of black plastic where it appeared to be melting the backing plate at...

    What is on my wheels?

This may have nothing to do with your situation, but I'll add it anyway in case it helps someone. What you have going on looks a LOT like what one of my friends had on his car he brought me. Long story short, when he had taken it to the dealership, they washed it for him. Part of that wash was...

2011 BMW Z4 Corrected and Coated with Ceramic Pro

A returning customer called me up this weekend. He had just bought himself another car and wanted it protected ASAP! Luckily, I had time to fit him in just 3 days later. I had already previously performed a 2-step correction and coating on another one of his vehicles, and he was eager to have...

how do you handle customers like this?

No bull: Raise your prices. Charge what you're worth. You encounter less and less of these type of people as you raise your prices. I transitioned from one of the cheapest guys in town to now probably the most expensive in several towns, and the quality of my customer base has improved...

Opticoat 2.0 discontinued, OptiCoat Pro sees price increase

So I've recently gotten word that OC2.0 is being replaced by a 2 year product called OptiGloss, and that the only remaining version of OptiCoat will be the Pro version. The pro version is now $150 per 10ml (enough for one vehicle) and will no longer carry a lifetime warranty but a 5 year...

Questions for those that do opti coat pro

Who says I don't have insurance? All I said was that I see no reason to carry 100k in insurance.

Questions for those that do opti coat pro

I don't do OptiCoat Pro for the simple reason that I see no need in carrying 100k in insurance. I use 2.0 for that reason alone. I'm always straight up with customers about what I use, and I tell them that I'd be happy to refer them to a pro installer if they want, but that both are superior...
