Makes sense. Want to make sure the surface is clean for the sealant to bond right. Hoping this leads to crystal clear glass....the way a new car should be :)
Cool, thanks. Here's my plan:
1. I will try the clay again
2. Apply 15% IPA (not familiar with IPA but will look it up)
3. Glass polish with the DA on speed 6
4. Apply glass sealant (maybe opticoat or griot's).
5. Apply Invisible Glass (is this the same as IPA?) and wipe off with mf towel...
Wow...eye opening. Especially using the top speed on the polisher.
What kind of clay do you guys use? Fine or medium?
I have the griots paint prep. Would that sub for the 15% IPA solution?
Hey everyone,
Just finished doing a multi-step clean, clay, ironx, seal on my 2013 Highlander. 1000 miles. Chicago winters. No garage.
I see tiny specs in the windshield when looking directly into the sun...even after i clean with glass cleaner and microfiber.
What's the best way to deep...
So I finally got this done. Thanks for all the tips. It was nice to know I had some the best products available to do this job. I think it turned out great although pearl white isn't exactly a satisfying color for this type of project. At the same time, the color made it hard to mess up. I have...
Thanks for the feedback guys. So based on the replies I've adjusted my steps.
Added info: the color of the vehicle is blizzard pearl.
1. Wash with chemical guys wash and gloss diluted
2. Apply iron X
3. Griot's paint prep to remove wax
4. Wolfgang poly clay bar and lube (or Maguiars clay kit)...
Looking to clay and seal my brand new highlander.
Is there really much difference between say a Wolfgang poly clay vs. maguiars vs. chemical brothers (or other brands) clayblock?
The clayblock seems too good to be true. Faster, easier to handle and lower maintenance and costs about the same?
Thanks for the info. So I can strip with chem guys before and then use it after the sealant? Basically it will strip top coat wax (if I put one on later) but not sealant right?
Hi all. New here. Been doing some research (too much) and figured I should just ask the experts.
Have a new 2013 Highlander and I want to put a paint sealant for the Chicago winter. Im getting ready to place an order and here's what I'm thinking:
1. Wash using good soap
2. Griot's paint prep...
