Help Removing Hard Water Spots on Boat

Acid wash, with either "mary kate on off", or muriatic acid. I would dilute the latter.

Detailing a boat on a lift??

AERÉ Work Platform These guys make an inflatable work float. It's great if you don't have the room to haul around a regular float.

    Compounding by hand

They make little 3" pads that can be attached to the end of any drill. They are great for getting to tight places, horns, handrails, etc.

Cleaning a boat hull with a steamer?

Never heard of using a "steamer" to clean the g.c. We acid wash a lot of our boats, to remove the yellowing from the waterline and chime.

    Gel-coat quality

I know some of the newer searays have dark colored hulls so it's quite possible that it is gc. If it was an older searay i would say that it had been painted. The white specs are dried up salt, if the salt is not rinsed off properly (after the boat is used) the sun will actually cause that...

    Gel-coat quality

Most custom sport fish will be painted, as well as all the bigger yachts (100+ ft.) The more you do the easier it will be for you to tell the difference.

When quoting a boat, what do you include?

Normally when I quote a boat that size we would include everything. Cushions, metal, hatches etc. A 25' cuddy cabin, you should be able to finish in a day.

    Varnish

Did it years ago on an old hatteras to see how it would look. It didn't really work, but the varnish was in really bad shape. I suppose it may work if varnish isn't too far gone.

What's your "Go To" products on boat detailing?

That is a pretty vague question.

    1998 Oxidised boat. Opinions Needed!

If you have compounded, and the surface is clean (no oxidation, or hazy areas). I would polish with a yellow wool pad, then use 3m's ultra machine polish with a foam waffle pad. Finish with collinites 925 fiberglass wax, and apply with a buffer. Buff the product in slowly. Hope that helps.
