After some saving I finally got my DA polisher (Griot's). Since the backplate is 6 inch. Most of the things I read in here is get a 5 inch backplate instead. Since I am a beginner should I really change it to that size?

Since I still dont have my paint correction items and my car have a lot of scratches on it. Is it ok to clay the car and put wax on it as protection for the meantime?

I saw this product on one of the Canadian site and I was wondering if this is a good buy from Meguiars. I was trying to research reviews on it and most of them are old already.
I was planning to use it as a quick detailer or after every wash.
I am glad that I am getting a lot of inputs :). One question that pop in my mind is what product do you use to clean the carpet like cover under the hood?
I do not have any water access on my parking area and for most videos that I have seen is you have to wash it off with water after using a degreaser.
Do you have any tips on how to do this without water? Good products to use?
I have seen from most of the detailing videos that they are polishing by section. Once you are done correcting one section and moving to another one. Do you overlap the polishing with the finish section? Will the overlap of the cutting pad not harm the finish section?
Can I just buy another backing plate from CG for the 5"? I was thinking that normally it is a universal insert. Or should I also get it from Groit? As of now, CG is the only resource that I can get from my area in Canada with less shipping.
Thanks for the tip on the number of pads. This is...
