So my 2006 Lancer Evolution never has been polished. First washed and clayed with Nanoskin. I attempted the front doors(didn't have enough time to do whole car) with 3 sets with 4-5 passes. Product I used was HD Adapt with Buff and Shine Orange pad for first two passes and White pad for last...
My vehicle has never had defects removed so there are a lot of swirls marks and some deep ones. But again I haven't tried speed yet so I'll prob try it on a different panel and see how it goes.
Also does anyone know if 6k is to high or should I stick around 5krpm and how many passes? Also...
My hood has a lot of drips and raises in it. I def have to tilt the rotor to hit some of those marks. But yea I has faith in the product. Just trying to figure everything out.
How should the haze look where I'm polishing? To me it sometimes seems like I'm running out of product and wherever I'm polishing it looks like it doesn't have that hazy swirl polishing look left. Kinda like there is no compound on the surface when I'm going over it.
This is my first time polishing and I'm polishing my 2006 Lancer Evolution. I read that it has single stage paint. Anywho I am using a DA polisher, hd adapt, and orage buff and shine pads. I'm applying 4 dime/or 6 pea sized portions on my orange foam pad and doing about 4 passes at 6k rpm. It...
Everybody seems to be saying the orange and white pads. For the orange I understand its for the swirls/cutting. But the white when I read the description it says for applying waxes and sealants with a dual action polisher, or for jeweling paint with a rotary buffer. To me the white seems for a...
I think that's what I'm going to do, hit some panels at a time. I'm reading that the Evo has very soft paint so looks like I'll that'll make things more interesting.
Lord didn't expect it to be a good 10+ hour job. I'm assuming it'll easily be 15+ since it's my first time polishing and having to learn it. Seems like I got a great starting ground on what to purchase and where to start.
Yea I tried to get pictures of the worst defects on the car. The front is a bunch of dead bug guts that claying really didn't get off and rock chips. The side of the car is from a cone I hit at autocrossing(should come out pretty easy I believe). Roof I have some scratches from a cat in the...
