Hey guys, I know there's a ton of threads out there on wheels. I just had a quick question about wheels. I am going to be detailing a friend's 70's corvette for a car show tomorrow night. He has the polished wheels but they seem faded or oxidized? Does anyone know a good way to give it a good...
Well, this is why I upsell claying. You talk to your customers and just explain that you are washing and waxing the vehicle and it will come out looking great. But right after that, mention to them that if you add on a claying, it will bring out a deeper shine and "it's only $X more to clay the...
I think it also depends on the size of the vehicle. Make sure you charge accordingly for that. Everyone is different, but I upsell the claying process. Most people don't care, but the ones that do care would more than likely pay the extra $ to have their paint feelin purrdy.
Haha. I am in the same exact boat as you dude. My birthday is at the end of this month, so hopefully soon! My family thinks I'm weird because I want detailing stuff lol. BTW, good job on the car, looked pretty good for not being washed in two weeks! Most people would've waited two months if it...
That's a good write up. Thanks Mike, pretty funny as well lol. I am just hoping I can talk over the condition of the paint with my boss and hopefully convince him to let me work on it. We shall see.
Btw, there's also a hunk of some sort of junk on the trunk (no pun intended haha). It looks...
Aww sorry to hear that man. But like you said, sometimes it's better to cut your losses than deal with someone who can just cause you to hate doing the work. Your doing this because you enjoy it, no need to have customers that take that away from you. Hope it turns around for you!
I gotcha. Thanks for the advice! I may just clay the car and seal it with a wax for now. Wait until the end of the month when I will hopefully get a DA polisher. Looks like I may try the SwirlX on the wheels. Any suggestions on what I should use to apply the cleaners and/or SwirlX? Like I said...
That's a good point. I could use it to at leas t apply wax to all the cars I am doing at the very least.
Paul, I am not sure what color it is exactly. And in regards to claying and polishing the wheels, I have swirlX and Meguiar's white clay. Would this be good to use? Any recommendations on...
Yeah, thanks! I am on the fence because I know most of my customers won't really need (well, want) those processes done. But I feel like the few times I MAY need it each year, it would make the work so much easier and much quicker.
As of now, yes, I am working by hand. I hope I get gift cards to AG or enough cash to put towards getting my own DA polisher. Even though I won't need it too often, I know I would use it on my own car as well as my fiancee's when needed so it would be a huge asset. Epsecially when things like...
Thanks for the input Mike, just so I respond in order:
1. Do you think something like Ultimate Compund is too aggressive or is that something that would be perfect for this situation?
2. I'm not sure if things have changed yet or not, I am hoping that once he sees the final product it will...
