It does have a very slight rough feel to it. The area around it looks like it doesn't have a think coat of clear on it. I talked to the customer he said that the hood was painted 2 years ago. It was in California it's whole life, and he recently moved to New Jersey. It seems to me that the...
Here's a shot of exactly where on the hood it is. Right next to the driver front fender there. It's pretty apparent that i didn't cause the problem, but helped the problem "shine" through. Looks like 6mo down the road (car sits in sunlight) it would have come through
That's what I thought as well. I'm just in a position where I don't know what to do. It obviously wasn't there before, but its apparent that it was on the verge of surfacing either way.
Is this something I could have really prevented? I've used the v36/orange combo 100's of times....never had any problems....or is this the painter who should have thrown down more clear....looks like there is a minimal amount of clear around there
That's what my fear is....just sucks because this car has 3500 miles on it, it's a 2011. Aftermarket hood I'm ASSUMING wasn't painted with enough clear on it
It does look like clear coat failure??? But idk you think whoever painted the hood didn't put enough clear right there? I went over it with 5 passes.
Also it does have a SLIGHTLY rougher texture to it
Thanks for all the replies guys! I can't thank you enough!
I do believe that the bumper was repainted. The car came from West Orange NJ, which is outside of NYC. The car's GPS had many points in there for the Hamptons. I believe he traveled often through the city. Usually cars from NYC, or...
Updated pictures.
I'm thinking that maybe the previous owner/dealership maybe might have repainted the bumper and it looks maybe dust got into the clear or paint.
Here you can see the R/R of the vehicle, and how deep a rich the jet black looks.
This is under the right front headlight...
I'll have to try a bit more on compounding and polishing. I use a porter cable 7424xp, and have a wide array of pads. It just never finishes how I'd like and restore a good shine.
I'll try to get some pictures tomorrow in the sunlight. The lighting isn't optimal right now. But thank you very...
Hey guys!
I have a 2008 750i Jet Black. (Most beautiful color when corrected, and finished correctly but a hell to maintain)
Anyways, I bought the car with 44k miles on it. Now has 60k. My problem is the front bumper looks faded, and dreary. I wish I could explain it better.
However, I'm...
